Supercharged tranny wear
Well could have made quite the joke out of that title, but actually have a real concern. How is the dct supposed to hold up
With all these high hp supercharger kits. I mean with the added torque and hp, aren't you just begging for a blown tranny? Am considering the the s/c route but still have some reservations (like is the power even usable, don't want to spin all over the place, love the control) but most importantly how does this not destroy the car? Bot this car outright and plan on keeping for awhile. Any advice/input would be most appreciative... Thx Btw have done about all that can be done to the car besides the s/c and love it.., s/c more for when/if I get bored with thus setup... |

Don't supercharge then....I know I won't, cause I'm afraid or reliability problems.
The M3 is a nice machine as it is...

Sounds like the DCT tranny is pretty reliable even with the addition of a supercharger. As long as your not doing a sh*t ton of launches from a dig.

I think the DCT is rated for 450lb ft Tq, and 9000rpm, or something like that, so it should hold up just fine. Also, the computer tends to keep everything safe for the DCT, so if things get too crazy the computer takes care of things.
Then again, that's what I've been reading on this site...I have no actual experience myself.

it might be rated at that level as peak, but for longevity is the question here... if i had DCT and went SC, I would get a conservative hp kit

There are enough DCT SC cars running around to make the assumption that the DCT can handle it
Some of them are driving their car like it was meant to be driven, hard. I'm pretty sure both Gintani and ESS have DCT cars with maybe 15k miles and more without any abnormal wear or issues compared to a stock car |

Honestly, it would be cooler if I saw a 6 spd Supercharged M3 with dog engagement and straight cut gears!
If you're worried about the transmission blowing up, then this might be an idea to consider. |
