Akro Slip on vs. Akro Full
do these two different exhausts have the same exact sound? is the only diff the x-pipe and hp/torque gains? everyone seems to go for the full even after they get the slip on.. just dont see why i need more HP when i already have 414

If you get the EVO, just be ready for a pretty strong exhaust smell.
I've heard the slip on, and felt it was loud enough for most people over 35, who live in a nice neighborhood. .

Never thought of that.....I would hate to wake the neighborhood up! But do you really hear the slip on? Are you better off stock?

but the s/o is about 20% louder than stock...you can hear it, but if i were driving behind you, i would have to listen for it....other non M drivers wouldnt probably be able to distinguish from stock..but the evo is definitely noticeable...u hear it immediately after they install it..just sounds less restrictive. id get the evo..save money on the second install u are eventually going to pay |

During cold start in the morning it is pretty deep/bass-y and as such the sound can carry. Generally driving around at "ordinary" speed/RPM isn't going to be too noticeable and shouldn't disturb people much.

Just went from slip-on to evo over the weekend. It's amazing. It is loud, but it was loud to begin with. Even with the slip-on, my housemates can hear/feel it when I start up in the morning (2 story house). Now with the full evo, they hear/feel it even more, but I'm courteous to back out of the garage asap or turn off the car once I park the car. At first when I left the shop after getting the exhaust installed, it didn't seem that much noticeable when the windows were up. But when I rolled them down, it was much more prominent and deeper. Smell is noticeable, but it's not too bad. And it's only noticeable when you come to a stop with windows down. When you get on the throttle, it sounds amazing windows up or down. Go full evo, you won't regret it. The drone from slip-on at around 3k RPM is gone too.

Ever since the Akrapovic Evo came out, I've been reading and watching videos on youtube about that exhaust. At that point of time, I didn't even know that I'll end up buying an M3.
I have the car since two weeks and I like the stock sound, but I am quite sure that it will get boring very soon. That's why I've started looking for alternatives. There are actually two main things which make me unsure about it. First of all, the guarantee. I don't want to have problems with BMW if something happens. I even plan to extend the guarantee after the two years. Did you ever have issues with your dealer? The second thing is the loudness. I live in Germany and at the autobahn I usually drive with at least 100mph. I am afraid that it will get too at loud such speed. On the track it will be fun, but driving for a few hours and not even being able to hear the passenger Last edited by dex37; 02-01-2012 at 03:41 AM.. |

I don't drive 100 so it might be different, but at 70-75, the car is plenty quiet when cruising with the windows up.

Not loud at cruising speeds. Get an Evo.
