I've used on daily drivers. The advantage to it is that it is a permanent solution. You put it on once. Since is bonds with clear coat it cannot be removed without wetsanding. It is super easy to work with. You get a tube that will cover several cars. I usually use it on my wheels, so I don't have to worry about taking them off to reapply like I would if I used a traditional wax or sealant.
The cons are that it won't give the "depth" that a good carnuba wax will give you. It also doesn't bead water as much as some of the better sealants on the market. I think it is great for the car that you daily drive, don't get to wash very often, and aren't inclined to address the paint again. As I stated earlier, it works great on clear-coated wheels. You do need to have a clean, corrected(polished) surface prior to install. It will "lock-in" any imperfections. Also, you only get one shot at application. It won't bond with itself, so you can't do a second coat. |

I have it on mine and so does another Socal local, Shuggy. Eric Schuster from Envious Detailing applied it on both vehicles.

I've had Opti Coat on my car for about 6 months so far. Water still beads nice and tight still.
Some people say that it doesn't look as good as a traditional wax but I'm all about 90% of the looks for 1000x less work. I tried going to traditional hand polish / wax route but wasn't getting the results I was looking for. One thing is it has a tacky feeling to it, not a slick surface of wax. If you're in Socal I'd recommend Richard at showcardetailing.com he has a shop in Anaheim. Pm me if you want more details. Quote:

I have opticoat on my car. Basically the same as whats been said above. However I do wax the car every 6 weeks or so with Victoria Concours Red wax for a deeper wet look.

found this guy/company after some googling...
http://www.sunsetdetailingoc.com/ good reviews thus far..made contact with him, quoted a fairprice for paint correction/exterior full detail and opticoat application, slightly more to include an interior detail, he stated no extra cost for him to drive up to me....I'm at least 90 minutes to 2 hours away...I think I'll set up an appointment with him once my schedule clears up...

Many detailers won't quote you over the phone. Richard at showcardetailing will do a free evaluation with a test spot to see how much polishing is required. I think some people are weary since I don't think I've ever seen their work on the forums eg autopia etc. Actually Facebook is supposed to be popular with the detailing crowd. Are they on there? |

Since 4/2013, I have switched to 22PLE coating. 22PLE isn't slick to the touch, it is rather a smooth rubbery feel, but has a deeper, wetter look. It is less permanent in comparison to Opti-Coat 2.0, but is a glass coating which is equivalent to having additional clear coat layers. It takes about 7 days to fully cure and should not be washed or see rain during its curing period. I still use Opti-Coat 2.0 on my rims. Btw, Opti-Coat cures much quicker, about 24 hours or less.

definitely not trying to cheap out on a detail...but his price is in the range for most detailers when quoting a full detail with paint correction if needed...

I put Wolf's Hard Body on my car and my wife's car because I was a little weary about a "permanent" solution. However, I have heard nothing but great things about OptiCoat.

Eric is mobile. Does Norcal and Arizona occasionally.
If you have no water supply, he will do an ONR waterless car wash. If you have a distant electric supply, he has extension cables to power up his LED lights and polishers. Cheers!
