test new injectors?

HI all, I bought a new set of injectors to replace the ones in the car (130k miles). How do I test if the new injectors are working before putting them on? AFAIK, a stuck injector will cause hydrolock and break the engine. I feel it is necessary to test before putting them in for good.

Most people don’t test them first. I just swapped the new ones in. But if you insist, put them in a rail that fits this type of injector since you probably do not have any other type of injector holder (you may not have any rails, either) and apply 12V and touch the other wire to ground. Of course this won’t tell you much other than that the injector sprays. What a worrier or someone very thorough would do is send the new injectors out to an injector tester to test flow and spray pattern. I have done this before.

If they are new like you state, why are you worried? I've replaced a multitude of injectors in my time and never found any to be defective. Furthermore, you'll usually be able to hear a non firing cylinder long before you do any damage.

But like pbonsalb said, if you're that worried, apply 12V to each injector to see if they start clicking/opening. I personally wouldn't find a rail to put them in, but would just bench test. Either method will work though, good luck.

It is a pain to set up with fuel at the correct pressure and an injector holder. On simpler cars you can just pul the rail and injectors out of the manifold and spray into a long thin container. Not easy on the S65. Plus if you are this worried you want to know the flow and pattern is correct and that is most easily done by sending them out for testing. Might be $25 each injector. Marren, Five-O, RC Engineering and many other shops offer this service.

You can send them away for testing if you don't need to install immediately. Also check for a local service. I live in Sacramento and there's a guy named Dr. Injector who tests for $10 per/injector. Cleaning and replacing orings cost an extra $15/per. But if they're new oem I would simply install.

Take them to a shop and have them tested and cleaned if necessary. Simple.

they've got the verification stickers on them, and look official. i'll try one of the codes and see, but don't have a reason to suspect otherwise.

Just placed my order for a set to keep around as spares. Can't beat this price.
