Crazy C63 deal...thinking of trading the M3!
Hey guys,
As much as I love my M3 Sedan, I recently got quoted a ridiculous deal on a new 09 C63 AMG (White on black) and am very tempted to make the switch. The dealer is willing to sell their new car for $15K off sticker and give me what seems to be a very competitive trade value for my car of $45K (IB/Blk 6-speed Sedan with 8K miles, no nav). Should I go for it? |

If you've got money to burn, why not. The C63 is a damn fast and is a BEAST with a few mods.
Where in SoCal are you? My brother in law may be interested in your car.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I rubbed the 8 ball a few times. Here's what it said:
Reply hazy, try again. My sources say no. Concentrate and ask again. Outlook not so good. Better not tell you now. Very doubtful. Cannot predict now. My reply is no. Don't count on it. I think you can get plenty of support if you try a Mercedes forum. |

Aren't you still going to take a pretty big loss? Also, they aren't selling you the car for a steal out of charity - they're doing it because it's not selling. You'll end up with something that's depreciating even faster than the car you've already got.

Yeah, it's never charity. But it's not that they aren't selling (no more no less than M3s which are good deals now too) but more that it's the end of the year. 2010s are coming and have some better options available over the 2009s.

They're actually doing it because currently there is a $7,500 incentive available on the car from the manufacturer to get rid of remaining 09 inventory.

nah... i'd go for it if the C63 amg was an upgrade to the m3... i see both these two cars as equal... if you are upgrading to a 911 or something then it might be a different story.

1. C63 is damn fast on the straight but don't even think about going fast in highway exit like M3s.
2. It's direct competitor with our M3 but the gas mileage is more like M5 competitor. Just letting you know. 3. If you're getting one, just make sure you have AMG leather package. Just like all C-classes, it's lacking dead cow skins inside of the car for the price. Basic leather trim has same amount of leather as Nissan Z. No door panel, center armrest in leather if you don't get AMG leather package. 4. You'll miss BMW's built quality and "soft" plastics when you sit in the C63. Way too much hard plastics like Japanese entry luxury cars. 5. Still it's a great car especially for people who like straight speed and "power". I'm more highway exit speed type of guy and a big fan of dead cow skin. 6. Def. you'll not see another one on the street (it's good and bad: I like saying hi to the fellow M3 driver on the other side of street but the same time, really- too many new M3s are out there).

The seats in the C63 are nuts, it's like being squeezed by a giant hand

Is it what you're after in a car? Faster in a straight line but slower in the corners. Are you looking to change your car for the sake of it? I've been guilty of that before. Have you driven it? Do you like the look? I personally much prefer the M3 in looks alone but that's just personal taste. If you really want a change and like it then, once you're happy with the price go for it. Remember you will still lose your shirt on depreciation once the '10's come out so don't buy it for monetary reasons. Good luck with your choice. On the plus side it's nice to be in that situation in the current economy. |

From what I've heard C63 is just as capable in turns as M3 and for DD is a better car since there is more torque down low. I still would pick M3 though, there is something about BMW.
