I just got my car back from an oil change a couple of days ago. While I was cleaning the engine compartment up a little yesterday I noticed (or never noticed before) that I can see straight through the engine to the ground in a couple areas.
I have a couple pics where you can see the light shining through at the bottom. Am I just paranoid or did the dealer forget to put a panel back on?

I checked before I took the pics and i saw the big reinforcement plate and the black plastic in front of that but I'm just wondering if there could be anything else. I couldn't really get a good look I have nothing to jack the car up. I'm wondering if any of you guys see the same when you look through the engine in the daytime?

They may have forgot to put the panel back on. Look under your car to see if it is there

I don't have my e90 so can't go look for you but I would say yes. There is the felt undertray as well as another panel in the center that runs back to around the wheel area if I remember correctly. You shouldn't be able to see the ground.

This sucks. Is it necessary to even remove any panels to get to the oil plug?

no the oil drain plugs are exposed and no panels should need to be removed.

Yes you are just paranoid. You are supposed to see through in a couple small spots, exactly where you have photographed, my car is the exact same and there are definitely no panels missing.

The dealership didn't remove any panels to do your oil change so either they were already missing or you are paranoid.
