Of Rearview Mirrors and Intermittent Wipers

I would like a good, old-fashioned "manual" rear view mirror, Does BMW have one for the E9X cars?

Also, does anyone know what the operating algorithm is for the intermittent wipers? Okay, they are speed- and water-volume sensitive, but more often than not their operating frequency is too slow, and the auto-adjust seems to be insufficiently fine for the 165 different types of precipitation we have in the Seattle area; so I am constantly fiddling with the SOB and, of course, when I activate 'one-swipe,' it turns off the auto feature. It's beautiful, really. Ideally, I'd like to have manual control of the frequency.

Any hope for returning control to the driver/owner, or do I just accept that these decisions have been made by my betters in The Fatherland?
