OP: Thanks for doing the real hands-on research and actually posting it. Another bump up for the signal to noise ratio on this forum

Baking the fluid in the rear calipers on the stock rears with upgraded fronts could be pretty easily solved with more frequent bleeding but I would push the easy button and do all 4.

For those that have or have run front only BBK, what's the pedal feel like vs. OEM?

Is the pedal feel firmer and harder vs. stock all-around?

Thanks!

My recollection is that stainless lines with the stock calipers made the biggest difference in pedal feel, and changing to the BBK didn't make a vast difference after that, at least on the street. At the track the BBK wins, period.

Of course, once you have that level of technology, there are other variables at play like pad types and fluids. For instance, race pads can deliver a soft pedal while they're cold; conversely, street pads deliver a soft pedal when they're hot.

Thanks for the info JAJ. I already have StopTech Stainless lines on my car and the pedal feel is better, but I just hate that dead, grabby feel for the first 1-2 inches of pedal feel.

I'm guessing regardless of what BBK you do, it's more about the master cylinder in the m3.

I've heard from others with BBKs that the pedal feel is improved, but still not Porsche hard at the top.

To me the SS lines didn't change the pedal feel at all, at least not with new oem lines. If you have high mileage rubber lines, some improvement is probably there.

The changes from oem to BBK is like going from braking with your foot to braking with your toes, the change is very drastic. Pad compound also will play a role in the pedal feel, less compressible compounds will give you a firmer pedal.

The rubber bushings used in the oem floating calipers don't help with pedal feel and consistency of the brakes either.

I'm bumping this post to say that I have to agree with Harold. The stoptech st60/st40 combo drastically increases pedal sensitivity. Borderline too much.. It's ok on track but I feel like it's too sensitive on the street to the point where it's hard to modulate since the pedal bites immediatly in the travel. Does anyone else with the stoptech's feel this way? I may try a less aggressive street pad than the stoptech street sports.
By the way the st60's fit fine with my stock 18's and 10mm spacers. No spacers required for the APEX track wheels

Stoptech offers a Posi Quiet compound "104" for the ST40 and ST60 calipers. PQ pads dust much less than the Stoptech Street Performance Pads that come with the BBK at the expense of slightly less brake torque.

Bumping an old thread. Any idea weather the OEM 18s will work with a Brembo 380/380 BBK? I have a square setup of rear 219 wheels (9.5" x 18" et 23) but bought a 380/380 Brembo kit and not sure it will fit. Hoping someone out there can confirm before I get rid of the wheels.

9.5x18 OEM 219 will not clear 380 brembo. They barely clear the 365 kit with very little space left (~2mm) between caliper and barrel without a spacer. With a spacer things work but there is still not enough room to clear 380 which needs an extra 7-8 mm of clearance.
