Aloha! I'm on vacation in Oahu this week, driving a mustang convertible.

Yesterday I saw a beautiful e90 m3 fire orange, over by aloha stadium.

Having a great time. I just ran into Carlos Santana at my hotel!

Dumb mainlander question here, but do you guys feel like you have "room to run", out there? I've been to Oahu and the Big Island, several years ago, and I know there are interstates and stuff--as well as beautiful 2-lane country roads. I just wondered, though, with a car like the M, whether you felt like you could really take her somewhere and "stretch her legs". Would you ever ferry her to another island to do some driving?
Haha yeah but there's SCCA for that all in all I just love to drive it. Doesn't have to be fast, I hooked it up to an Eisenmann race section 3 to give it some vroom to it! Just hearing it and driving it does it for me=)

Closest to perfect car available = 2011 E90 M3 w/ZCP and DCT.

:-)

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

Perfect car available would be 2013 last week of production, individual paint E92 w/ZCP CF roof and MT ! superior connection experience between the driver and engine with a MT, and freedom to rev the engine at absolutely any time while driving including and not limited to downshift blips.

To each their own.

For me:

Paint is minor issue, and individual paint is a waste.

MT - Not a chance when DCT is an option. Can work as a manual whenever I wish, and can avoid the drama and hassle of flailing and stomping whenever I wish. Oh yea, and the "rev at absolutely any time" is ONLY possible with DCT. Want to go from 7th to 3rd on an exit ramp with your MT? Stomp, thrash, drama. Repeat 4 times. With DCT? Blip, blip, blip, blip. Perfect rev-match every time, instant gear changes. Yeah!

I prefer looks of sedan, plus is was $3k cheaper and more functional.

A

" Can work as a manual whenever I wish, "

hahaha you are dellusional, it's an automatic. you have absolutely no control over the clutch position at any time during the switch. The wet clutches packs are... - Automatically - dis/engaged without you controlling how agressively/ smoothly / relaxed you want the clutch to be instantaneously, how much you rev it or don't rev it inbetween. You're being driven as a passenger to a computer. Have you ever ridden a bus and wondered why you didn't need to drive it

Selectively misunderstood me, uh ? "rev at absolutely any time" is NEVER possible with DCT, all you can do is up/down gears and that's it. MT driver can rev anywhere they want when switching gears and disengaging the clutch. LOL.

Also exaggerating a rev for aural purpose. Having the reward of doing rev matching not being passive, and deeper driver connection from engine to drivetrain.

"Want to go from 7th to 3rd on an exit ramp with your MT? Stomp, thrash, drama. Repeat 4 times."

No you just described your limitation. in the same scenario a MT driver should he decide can go from 6th to 3rd without having to visit every gears in between. Don't assume your dct limited driving habits affect MT drivers.

For a compact car, coupe makes sense. But some people's sizes take less space in car so it might work for the family and that's cool.
