2008 E92 M3... opinions?
So I've been looking to upgrade again, and a used M3 or C6 Z06 have been my two options. I've previously owned a E92 335i as well as a C5 Z06 so I'm familiar with both cars, and the new one, while a DD, will see the track maybe 5-6 times a year, and about 10K miles a year of driving.
I love both, but the Z06's valve guide issue has me concerned, specially since the problem hasn't been quantified, and tracked cars are likely to see it happen more often. GM's warranty has been good at covering folks that have blown their motor, but what has been billed as a 'fix' (aftermarket heads) will void manufacturer warranty. The M3 on the other hand, doesn't appear to have a major issue as such which is good for peace of mind... Straight line speed isn't my priority, and granted anything can happen at the track, threading the needle with blowing up your motor is not something I want to be thinking about at every session. With that, I've found the following car - and wanted to get opinions on fair pricing for it: 2008 E92 M3 - $40350 (with $599 doc fee included, yay ) - 31K miles - Space Gray Metallic / Fox Red interior - DCT Ad says warranty available, but I'm friends with a SA there, car warranty expired on August this year. Solid service history though. I'd probably look into an aftermarket extended warranty nonetheless. Thoughts?

i say yay with that color combo.
you are not new to bmw so nothing should be surprising, maybe the gas mileage as you can count on low teens for it. Besides that all else is good. Have fun on and off the track. |

Yeah, I'm familiar with the territory to an extent - Gas mileage is not something I'm concerned as my daily commute is very short but spirited nonetheless... Price point + mileage + options - warranty sound like a cohesive number?

Yep, gotta be satisfied with the purchase altogether. Waiting to hear from dealer on things like trade-value, etc. May take the car for a spin over the weekend if some of those numbers pan out in the right direction. I'm passively looking at the moment, but if the right figures show up - I'll pull the trigger.
Just today, a new post on one of the Vette forums - another blown LS7 Z06. Bought with 45K miles, motor blown at 49K. Ouch!

Used M3
I purchased my 2008 E93 with 4k miles on it 3 years ago from www.luxuryautoxchange.com and have been very happy. George Chirelli is the owner and is straight shooter. He has 4 to 6 M's at any given time, and his pricing is really great.
Look at his site before you buy, it will be worth it. Mark |

Any other options apart from DCT? I'd say that's a really good price given the mileage. I paid a premium for mine (still happy with the decision) for a fully loaded 08 E92, 1 owner, 57k miles. It as immaculate and lived in L.A its entire life.
But yea, there's nothing worse than that thought in the back of your mind. THe E9x M3 is such a great car.

Low mileage car with full documentation of services is the most important IMO.
Color combo is also a very nice one and 08s are very solid. I have not had one single issue with mine so far! Good luck!
