Tint

Seeking recommendations for window tint in Seattle. Got one quote for $450.00. Perhaps I'm out of touch, but I thought it was pricey.

Advice welcome.

On prior cars I've used Accutint Seattle (expensive) and Darkside Tinting on Lake City Way (cheap but well done). I'm thinking about 40-50% tint for heat control and would try Accutint NW on Aurora. I had them detail a car once and was impressed with price, service, and a great detail. I think $450 is pricey but it depends on the film too. I would probably max out at $400.

The price of the material can vary by over 3:1. What I ended up with on my vehicle was a top-end tint from 3M. At a 70% material, it has better IR and UV ratings than most all other tints with much darker tints. It is also the max you can have in some states and still pass inspection. So, some of it depends on whether you really want dark, or you want something that looks good, but isn't! http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...omotive_Films/

Mine's only been on about a year, but no scratching, bubbles, loose or other visible defects. The difference in interior temp was dramatic when sitting in the hot sun.

I have comfort access... does this require the use of ceramic film?

I had mine done recently by Midnight Window Tinting at the Bellevue Location, I'm happy with their work, only cost me $150 Groupon and then another $70 to upgrade the tint.

Doesn't require it. My range may have decreased a bit without it but still works well enough for me.

Most important thing is to get Tint Protector on the window seals if you have a sedan.
