Americans, particularly buyers of long-running nameplates like Corvette, Mustang, Camaro with a lot of heritage, are perhaps less willing to dispense with the manual transmission tradition. But it will happen eventually.
I see where you're going. As the DCT technology gets more wide spread (and more importantly costs go down and reliability is proven to be high) it could very well become the premier AT for luxury/sport cars. And I kinda hope that does happen!

It's just a matter of when each manufacturer is going to stop sitting at the sidelines and jump into the pool. Maybe GM might do it at the middle of the C7 run as an "enticement" for early C7 buyers to upgrade!

Damn... that might just happen to be me... especially if it is coincidental with the Z06/7 variant

I love my dct, but I could definitely go back to a manual. It would be much easier to have the manual if there wasn't a dct option that was considerably faster. The current c7 is one of the last sports cars made that doesn't have a faster automated option. I'm sure even the auto in the c7 will be quicker than most drivers but it would be close.

Not a bad starting point... very interested to see what they can do with the car.

So correct me if I'm wrong but even if that particular C7 has the optional sports exhaust it's STILL underrated...right? I'm not great at math. Lol. Wow

R&T is testing 13 cars for the "Best Performance Car" test. One of the guys who was part of it was with Jalopnik. Here is the article... Review comments

Here is his quote

Quote:
Holy shit. Holy shit. I knew the 2014 Corvette would be good. I didn't expect it to be this good. Nearly everything is dead on. The gearbox is bliss, even the gimmicky rev match feature. Turn in is crisp and it has loads of grip.

I need a lot more time in one, but I'm far more impressed with the Vette than I ever was with the C6 Grand Sport I drove last year. It's an epic achievement. Can't wait to get a proper test in the car.

Looks like it's responding well to preliminary tuning
