For now just cosmetics, I want to drive it for a little while to see what I really need/want. I picked up black OEM BMW Edition grills and side gills, painted AW reflectors, AW key hole cover. All from IND. The car will come with BMW carbon fiber mirror caps. I want to keep it as clean as I can, it is hard to enhance what already is a great looking car in my opinion. I will do the window tint and a clear bra. I may add a rear OEM CF spoiler and some modest spacers.

My wish list includes:
- Full Akra Evo exhaust
- Recaro PP seats
- Powder coating the wheels (but not 100% on this one)

I really like radiantm3's car. His list of modes is pretty much what I'd do.

Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing!

I'm going next month (to some different destinations), but you've given me some ideas.

I'm still waiting on a 7D MK II or something (I don't want to buy a new cam and then see a new much better one in 6 months) and I'm still using my crappy XSi. Would you recommend the L lens for it?

So it looks like you now have two Fox(y) Reds. wink wink nudge nudge. I use a Photoclam PC-44NS in anodized red that I call my Red Head as it's the only one my brunette wife will allow me to have.
Thanks! I've captured over 20 Gb of raw material. I shoot with the original 12 mpixel 5D
I have a thing for Fox Red, you're right An on the subject of ball heads, I use Arca Swiss Z1 DP, it is anodized black though

It was meant to be. If I had the unlimited budget this is something I'd be considering buying. I parked next to that guy on purpose. Him and his buddy in the M1 were hanging out on Stelvio Pass.

But to the TS, awsome roadtrip, great pictures, car and to the guys inside it, nice choice of ... everything there.
Kinda beeing an European, we guys, is always thinking taking a roadtrip or visiting your country.
(I've been to the US 4 times thus far, no roadtrip though.)
But pictures like these kinda makes it nice to be European.
Next time you come to our shores, do the roadtrip - take Pacific Coast Highway (#1) and do the Big Sur stretch from San Simeon, CA to Carmel, CA. You won't be dissapointed

I have a 2011 E92 Alpine White and Fox Red. I have added painted reflectors, OEM carbon fiber mirror covers and rear spoiler, OEM BMW edition side gills and grills, and last but not least, the BMW M3 Performance Exhaust. I am debating whether to install the spacers and window tinting.

I'm glad I helped! I had this planned for like 3 years and the most challenging part was convincing my beautiful wife that we need yet "another car". She is in love with the M3 now, btw.

thanks. Yes, please see post #42 in this thread.

Just to add about photography, i think you must have used CP filter for the pics. For the folks, the CP filter is a trick for Automotive photography to cut down the car's reflection, as well as it's main purpose..which is to bring out the clouds/colours on bright days..as well as producing those amazing blues in the water (again, cuts through the reflections of the water).

I'm the opposite of your gears, i shoot mostly in primes, with the 50mm sigma 1.4 glued to the body. I use the 135L for cars and people pics. I don't even remember the last time i've used a zoom. I'd like to pick up the 35mm 1.4 very soon. For me, the limitation of the fix focal length is what drives my creativity out. But that's just me. Going Prime is more costly and troublesome to manage.
I shoot a lot of landscape, 2 B&W Circular Polarizers are always in my bag. It is indeed a great tool for the purposes you mentioned. As you stated, primes are created for pros, my general advice was aimed mostly to the folks starting out in the DSLR realm.

The original Rebel XT was my first DSLR, in fact I still own it. L-lens can be a good addition to it, but you're right it is not on par with the full frame camera like 5D MkII. I am not aware of 7D MkII. If you're waiting on it based on rumors, the wait can be rather long, just look at the folks waiting on the 1Ds MkIV

Amazing photography skills!

We did Bavaria and the Black Forest for our European Delivery trip. Next time we might head down your route... those roads look awesome to drive on!

(Anyone inspired to do ED should check out the few tips I posted from our experience a few months ago. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=558659)

To the OP... feel free to add your personal advice to my thread. For starters, what additional precautions did you take for driving to Italy?

What do you think about the Performance exhaust? I know it doesn't add anything in terms of power, but what about the sound? Stock exhaust sounds really awesome, is it worth the extra cash in your opinion?

PS I have it as my bb rington, btw. I doubt it does a good justice to it tho

I like it a lot. I wanted a factory exhaust, so when it came out back in March, I thought this would be it. After seeing the video of the link I have enclosed and hearing it in person I was sold. The link is as follows:
. I think the Performance Exhaust gives the car an entirely different character sound wise, it sounds more aggressive. Hope this helps. What do you think of the splitters? I am not completely sold the way they look on a white car.

I think the car in the video belongs to aajami, I hope he doesn't mind me posting this link.

Thank you very much!
I didn't take any particular precautions, although I should say, Italians drive very fast without any regards to the posted speed limit. Not that I am particular concerned with the speed limit myself, but dude, I saw some guys doing 125 MPH when speed limit was 80. Another note, in our 2 weeks in Europe we saw only one speed enforcing official - it was in France.

Indeed the sound is awesome! In fact, I do think that this is best sounding M3 exhaust there is, if only the price wasn't so steep for something that doesn't add any ponies. I may do it after all, who knows..

And I agree with you on CF splitters, they look somewhat controversial on a white car. After long consideration I had decided to pass on the splitters.

The cost of the trip (not including shopping) came up to $9,500. We were not trying to save money on anything, per se, but we were not doing anything crazy neither, like gambling at Casino Monte Carlo.

We stayed at 3-4 star hotels very close to all attractions. Screw commute! Fine dining in Europe is more expensive than in the US. If you expect paying 100-150 bucks for a dinner at a nice place in the US, in Europe it will be the same or slightly higher number, but in Euros. But, man, what a setting! The best example was a light breakfast on the Piazza San Marco in Venice, see attached. You'll pay dare prices for the orchestra, for the 300-years of history of that cafe, etc.. But it is all worth it.

We were visiting in July - the busiest time of the year. I think if you go in September or something, you'll be able to knock off a couple of G's off the tab due to lower air fares and hotel rates.

If in Nice, stay at Hotel Le Lausanne!

I appreciate all the details. I'm planning a trip for next summer, so I just want to get an idea what to expect.
My choice of color is the same like yours. Just a gorgeous M.

Wish you the best of luck with the car , and thanks again.
