Upcoming SoCal Track Days

I'm trying to decide what my next track day will be. I'm looking for a late August or early Sept. date. I'm considering:

8/27 Speed District at Willow Springs
9/3-4 SCCA at Buttonwillow (They are doing 18CCW which has two very long straights so I should be able to reach some higher speeds than I have before)
9/10-11 AROSC at Willow Springs
9/11 Speed District at Buttonwillow (The usual 13CW).

Of course, it's more fun when there's someone to hang out with. What events are you SoCal (and NorCal) guys going to in the next few weeks?

I'm considering a lot of those same dates as well. I'm keeping the end of Oct open because I'm pretty sure the BMWCCA SD is planning a weekend at Buttonwillow the last weekend in Oct.

Yep, and my work decided I needed to go on a two week trip starting the Sunday before that weekend.

Of course, things can change...so we'll see what happens.

Son of a bitch.

That's the weekend before SEMA.

I'm 100% certain I'm going. I can probably leave Monday...But man I'm going to be all worn out.

I'm still putting on breakin mileage, but tentatively this is what I'm thinking:

8/20 - SpeedSF - Streets of Willow (Night)*
9/5 - SpeedSF - Thunderhill 3 Mile
9/11 - SpeedDistrict - Buttonwillow CW13
9/17 - SpeedVentures - Buttonwillow CW13

And a bunch of stuff in Oct. - Nov., but I haven't looked that far ahead.

* I'm registered for this but I may miss it, sadly, because I'm still sorting out gremlins with the car and I'm afraid to chance it so far from home...but damn, it's going to be a cool event!

Break-in mileage? Sounds like someone got a new car. What did you get?

...In a manner of speaking...I blew my motor at Buttonwillow back in January and my engine build finally finished last week. It's a forged bottom-end now, so I'm trying to get miles on it quickly so I can get out to the track ASAP

what benefits are you noticing with the forged bottom end? who makes the parts?

This is for the 370z, not the E9X M. ban25 is a friend of mine.

As redpriest noted, I have a 370z. The engine builder is Rebello Racing in Antioch. They also build stoker motors for BMWs. For me, the goal was to build a reliable race motor, so forged JE pistons, K1 rods, and uprated bolts for strength.

In terms of pistons, I believe Arias has the best reputation, though JE is right up there, which is why I was happy to go with them. K1 rods are a good balance of strength and price (much better than OEM) and I see lots of builds with them these days.

The engine has higher compression and I also added a high-lift racing cam and long tube headers for performance. A baffled oil pan and twin-pump fuel system (Aeromotive 340) rounded out the reliability improvements. Beyond that, I pretty much went all out on the suspension and drivetrain, with full SPL suspension, solid bushings (everywhere), and twin-plate clutch and LSD from OS Giken.

The goal was a stronger engine that could also spin faster. I'm staying at stock redline for the moment because there's still one unsolved problem with spinning my VQ at 8000+: oiling. The baffled pan helps prevent starvation in high-g corners, but I need an improved oil pump or dry sump for it to be reliable on track at 8000-9000. I have billet gears for the oil pump, which should help greatly, but they didn't arrive in time for my build, so they'll have to go in later.

I've only driven it on the street so far, but it feels like it's been carved from a solid piece of billet. Immediate and endless torque. Looks totally stock on the outside, unless you hear it, LOL.
