I have perhaps 3-4 weeks before I have to pull the trigger on tires. Unless someone brings up something better I'll default to AD08R's ($1450 ) but at least keep an eye on any incoming data for the RS4's to see if it's worth re-considering. Maybe I'm over-thinking but I'm imagining the improvements that may come with the RS4 could make it better for me down the road but not as good as an AD08R for starting out.

Yeah, I mentioned the AD08R earlier as well. They aren't cheap. I got mine while there was a double-rebate at Discount Tire (Yokohama + DT).

I found the RE-11s to be a completely competent street and track tire. Ran them at COTA, Spring Mountain, ChuckyCheeseWalla, etc. They have a ton of grip for a real street tire (dry or wet) and are quiet on the street.

Noticeably stiffer sidewalls than PSS', so you'll suffer a little on your street ride quality. The burdens of our times...

I would have to assume Hankook's goal for the RS4 was to compete in street class autox with the RE-71R and BFG Rival S -- at least that's the assumption made in SCCA circles. It's part of the TW200 rated tire battle between manufacturers. Hence if anything I would guess it doesn't wear as well as the RS3, but time will tell on that hunch.

Will try R1 next.
he has to use a 200tw or above street tire in his autocross class, so he's just tracking on these is my understanding

I hope the RS4 brings the heat on the RE71

It's nice to have tires that have decent tread and act like NT01s. Great for the set-and-forget crowd that drives to track days

Admranger: The RE11 has had awesome reviews and might have been a shoe-in for me.... If only they weren't discontinued! It appears there's minor amounts of stock around at best, and nothing apparently in the size I'd need for 18x10 rims. These will be dedicated track tires by the way.

Dparm: Thanks, the AD08R is definitely a top choice, and while it's pricey, I've also heard they can compensate by lasting longer.

That said, I'm going to start another thread soon so I'm not hijacking this one, there's still one other option I'm thinking to compare to before potentially buying AD08R's.

Thanks again everyone for the responses!

I only had to run -2.5 camber with NT01s and got pretty even wear. So if you can get close to -2.0 on the OE strut mounts then they might last a decent amount of time with careful rotating and a flip.

TWS tears up tires. Figure about twice the wear since the surface is very old.
