(Not that the Camaro is going to be that drastic, but they're able to make relatively heavy cars do some amazing things these days.)

I don't expect the Camaro to handle as well as a 135, you can't rewrite the laws of physics. It definitely won't handle close to my RX8 but it should handle well (and I won't get out run from stoplights by V6 Camrys). The IRS used on the Camaro uses some tech from either the Z06 or maybe the CTS-V. Something about unequal shafts that remove wheel hop. Don't rememember where I read it (may have been on Chevy's press release).

Can't wait to be able to test drive everything, going to be so much fun.

IRS was borrowed from several Holden vehicles, iirc. The Zeta platform is used by the Commodore and I think one or two other Holden models. Pretty much all the Camaro design work was done down in Oz by a team consisting of Chevy and Holden folks.

Tires is not enough for me...lol I mean come on. Not even the Vette fanboys on s2ki would use that as an excuse(they're plentiful). They are just two different cars with diff characteristics. It just blows my mind that the heavier car thats down on hp and tq can be even relatively competitive. I'm talking stock for stock. Go over on M3Post. There is a 3k ECU Flash that is showing some super scary gains on the M3.

With that being said, the C6 is still the best performance per buck anywhere. Anybody that says otherwise needs to clean their loop.

Anyone who thinks that the tires aren't a huge factor on cars this fast isn't being realistic. The runflats on the Vette suck, and that's the reason BMW isn't using them on the M3.

And as I said earlier, you're already $10k in the hole on the M3 when compared to the Vette, and now you're talking about a $3k ECU flash. Do you have any idea what you can do to a Vette with $3k? For that kind of money you can have a tune, headers, and a reasonable exhaust. You're going to be around 465Hp at that point.

I'm not arguing the 10k. The Vette dosent have all the options the BMW has no back seats. I agree that runflats dont generally perform as well as normal tires. What are you contributing the Vette's poor tires to? Straight Acceleration? I'm not buying it. They hookup well enough to produce 4.0-4.3 to 60mph. I've autocrossed and hang out at the dragstrips. And yes, I do know what 3k can do to a C6 Vette. You get some crazy gains. I've seen owners go to town at the Sebring racetrack.

Your my new buddy Jeremy.

The E46 M3 and C5 numbers werent a stretch either. I guess it must've been the tires!

I'm betting that by the end of next year they're throwing cash on the hood of all of them except the SRTs.

Oh, the one I'm talking about is a SRT-8. $41k isn't bad for what you get.

I saw a black Challenger last weekend at a detail shop, they said the guy paid $70k for it. Then I was at a Dodge/Jeep dealership on Monday and saw an orange one with a $20k dealer markup.

Yeah, no thanks. I feel bad enough paying MSRP. :P

The new 2010 Camaro SS is a NEW Zeta II platform much better then the GTO. I am sure it won't be as nimble as a 3400# 135i but it will handle great and make a BEAUTIFUL sound.

I don't think a Zeta II platform exists yet. The Zeta platform itself is fairly new, and was not used by the GTO.

One the magazines has an article about this, and basically the Zeta chassis has been modified so much for the Camaro it's being called Zeta II within GM.

They moved the front wheels back 3 inches, altering the wheelbase drastically, and changed the engine placement. There were some other things as well. I'll have to see if I can find a link to the article.

Sorry to sink your boat, Camaro SS will have a much improved Zeta II platform.

IT WILL handle like a BMW, maybe better.

NO lag, NO fuel pump problems, etc. etc. etc.

Please just give it a rest until someone has tested the car. You sound like a leghumper and it's sickening.

HAHA......Yeah right!!! Lexus, Infiniti, Merc, all try to copy BMW's signature driving dynamics and fail. You expect the Camaro to succeed? I dont think so. Its going to be a great car for what it is but your getting waaay ahead of ourselves here. There is currently 2 Chevy's that handle extremely well. 1. C6 2. C6 ZO6 Why are we even comparing a premium car to a muscle car anyway?

I'll give you credit for one thing.. it takes some serious balls to make a statement like that about a Camaro!

I owned a 1989 camaro for awhile back in the day.

Don't feel bad Steve, I agree with you.

I think the new Camaro SS is going to be awesome.

I am really upset with BMW bringing out the 135i and STILL having fuel pump problems. And the LAG in the new programing makes me sick.

Good luck with your 135i's LATER DUDES.

Best Wishes, Jeff. I'm doing the exact opposite - I was all set to buy the new Camaro and was active over on Camaro5 for almost a year, but when the production specs were finally released, I was disheartened, and now I'm coming over to the Roundel side.

Good luck. I was here for a while and after hearing, reading and researching SO MANY people with fuel pump problems among many other problems on 3 diff BMW forums, I decided I will never get a BMW. Really pisses me off, the 135i was going to be my next car.
