Best tires for ESS supercharger....

I have the vt2-600 kit, and am currently running a VMR wheel in the rear, 9.5 wide. I have Yokohama Advan Ad08 tires, but they are just spinning through second gear. Any recommendations on a good sticky tire?

If any tire better than AD08 would be r-compound. But it will be worse driving on streets since they need to be warm up.

Are you still running 19's? I'm looking at the RE11 or the Pilot SS. My PS2's do pretty well until you get over half throttle.

Yeah, I still have the 19s and I'd rather not go down to 18s. The ad08s were stickier than my ps2s in when I was stock, but the blower is just way too much power for these tires.

No experience with the M3 yet but with my last 500+ RWHP vehicle I ended up running drag radials to get the initial bite and hook that I was looking for. However, DR's are no good on the track (road course) or in the rain. Are you concerned about track performance or just hotroding around on the street/strip?

I would recommend stepping up to the wider VMR wheels and getting 295s or 305s. Doesn't VMR have a 19x10.5 or 19x11 available now. Otherwise, you won't be able to run tires wider than 285s.

I was going to suggest using RE-11 tires, but I see they're only marginally better than the AD08's.

Also, how wide of a tire are you using on those 9.5" rear wheels? 265...275? I think I've seen people on here fitting up to a 295 or 305 with the right width and offsets.

^^ That's a pretty solid list of great tire options. One thing to keep in mind though is that at least the RE11 and NT05 are rated at a lower speed than the original tires. I'll have to kick both out of my running list because they are only W rated at 168.

I think you definitely need a wider wheel to fit a bigger tire in the back.

But yea, AD08 or RE11s seem to be the go to tires for traction.

An increase in width will definitely help, but the NT05 tires are a lateral move, at best. Try finding a set of wheels with an 11" width and a 30mm offset. This will allow you to use a very wide tire without modifying the fenders.

Wider width is the right idea here. AD08 is already right at/near the top of the grip hierarchy for streetable tires.

For the best traction stick with RE11, 285 or 295.
