I'd be interested in finding out if petitiononline.com has made any difference whatsoever in anything other than making those who sign petitions there feel better about whatever it is that they're signing about.

this will never pass. They have this rule for the red light cameras. Do you really think that the state will take down millions of dollars of cameras just so our cars look better? I would love for it to be true but be realistic here. Do your research for why we have to have front plates.

False- I've been nailed by cameras without front plate plenty of times. Not a good enough reason.

Did they have a clear picture of your face? Cause they only take a picture from the front of your car, not the back, ever notice what direction the cameras are pointing? If they cant clearly make out your face they cant tell who was driving the car nor who's car it was. It really doesn't matter anyways, its a retarded petition, will never work. What's the best excuse for not putting on a front plate? "My car looks better without a front plate"?

It's highly unlikely a petition will do anything. California is in a tough enough position with its current deficit. They need cameras to catch the license - front and back...added revenue.

Hahahahaha, how would they be able to send me the ticket if they couldn't see the license plate!? Lets see, Dark haired caucasian driving a VW Gti- Oh snap its Tom Patterson from Gilbert, Arizona! Send that bas**** whats coming to him!

You're right, the petition's a joke, but I don't think they keep them for the camera lights, they had a very clear picture of my license plate- thats my only point- Im just being a brat (and bitter)

should start a petition to allow tints on front windows.
seriously... Anything below 20% should be legal.

Anything below 20%?I think you have that backwards. Below 20 would be darker, not lighter, also that would never work as well, its there for the safety of police officers. They have that law in place so police can see inside the car when they pull someone over, so they know your not reaching for a gun.

that's what I meant... lighter than 20
I understand the reason behind the law but... no tint at all? It's california. it's sunny all the time.

actually, I think he maybe means 80%? ('cuz he was saying 20%, 100-80, y'know). "Anything" lighter than 20% can still be pretty darn dark.

This will never pass. Almost every other state and country has a requirement for front plates. The only time they will not pull you over is if you are not a minority. ESPECIALLY since California is about bankrupt, they need reasons to give out tickets right now.

they now video tape the whole thing
so they tape from start (front of car) to finish (rear of car)
you can review your tape online if you want to dispute the case

Just don't put plates on the car at all! keep the dealer tags on there! and run the reds!!!! a cop won't pull you over for no plates when you have the reg taped to the front window. And if they pull you over for something else they might let you go with a fix it ticket for your plates instead if you can talk your way into it

The saddest thing about the entire situation is that they enforce traffic and vehicle laws for the sake of income, and not for the sake of protecting drivers and the roads.

This is never going to pass.
