East Bay BMW did me a solid :)
Oil warning light came on last night...minimum oil level. On a whim I went into East Bay BMW @ 8am to buy some oil before heading off on my 40 mile commute. Before I purchased anything, I decided I would ask if they do courtesy top off since I heard *some* dealers will. They said absolutely. 20 minutes later I was filled up and on my way....cost -$0.

sounds good!! but just let me get this straight.. so you went to East Bay BMW and bought some oil and it was free with service at the end?
Edit: bummer.. just realized it's in Nor Cal so I guess I won't have a chance to get that kinda deal!! |

No, I went in with the the intention of buying oil. Asked if they could just top me off instead for free, which they did.

The day I took delivery of my new M3, for the heck of it I asked the SA for a quart of oil just in case it needs it during breakin. First he said I could just stop by and they will do it for free. I then said I'm not in that area very often. He then went into the service area and gave me a litre of the Castrol TWS Motorsport 10W-60 synthetic oil and a BMW zippered case which holds the litre and inside are some paper funnels, plastic gloves and paper towels. The case has velcro on the rear so it holds itself in place above the tool tray in the trunk.
But so far, 1100 miles, it hasn't called out for any oil yet. Will probably get the 1200 mile service done next week. |

That pouch sounds awesome. How much does it go for?

Stevens Creek BMW does courtesy top off too. I went to the parts dept to buy oil and the employee there told me to go talk to the service folks. They topped off my oil for free.
This happened to me on Monday after some San Francisco BMW bozo first sent me to Kragen on a Sunday. When I came back and told him I didn't find the oil there, he refused to sell me a quart of 10w60 because it was a Sunday. I had managed to get him to pick up the bottle from the parts counter but some manager of his (brilliant fellow I am sure) refused to sell it to me. |

EastBay BMW is good with that. But I would say if you know your SA well and they are cool with you I'm sure topping off oil/fluids wouldn't be too much trouble to them. They'd do that so they can get your business when you come in for maintenance and that's how they would get paid. I'm going to EB BMW tomorrow to pick up my new vehicle.

East bay BMW is the bomb, they have done everything for me from top offs, got a free detail...prob a one time thing but hey! to the simplist things like free tire stem cover. i went to a dealer in pdx and they charged me 80 cents for 1, wouldnt even consider giving it for free!
Joe Pagano is the dealer to see for purchase and will help you out in any other way, the service guys are always great!
