My car came with PS2's but I've replaced those with Bridgestone Potenza S-04's and love them! They are probably the closest competitor to the PSS's but will save you about $40 a tire.

Switched from PS2 to SuperSports. I liked the PS2 but the SS are even better IMO. A friend of mine from work put the VREDS on his car and hates them.

I had Conti ExtremeContact DW on my IS-F. They were OK at first but really started to suck well before they were worn.

Why would you neuter your car's handling by replacing performance summer tires with no-seasons?

On a somewhat related note, according to Autoblog's review and the spec page on BMWUSA's site, it seems that the M6 GC is getting RFTs (PSSes according to AB, though there may be multiple OEM brands as with the M3). Something tells me that will find its way to the M5 and M6 as well as the next-gen M3/4 as well.

Oh well, I guess at the rate we can go through tires we wouldn't have to put up with them long anyway.

Because 500W rating, my old Pilot A/S Plus lasted foreverrrr and weren't too shabby in the snow either. Then again, this was in my STI.

I may end up with PSSs anyway since the PS2 tread is getting low and I don't think I can wait that long. I'll probably love myself for doing that instead.

Personally I think you'd end up with far better performance per dollar (and maybe even more miles per dollar) getting PSSes for summer and real snow tires for winter rather than buying a tire that doesn't give you a great experience in either setting. Just my .02.

My best set up was with ~half worn PS2s on the front and new PSS on the rear.
I've put new PSS on the front and rear recently and the balance is not as good...I'm hoping that as the front PSSs wear down the balance will improve.

Had PS2's, they were ok. Bought volk rims and went with PSS they are better in comfort and road noise. Traction is an issue due to the super charger. Might go with AD08's next season if the PSS last till then.

After having too many flat tires in my life (ask me about the one right before I entered the Lincoln Tunnel in New York City) I purchased a re-manufactured 19" M3 Rim from a Company that advertises in the Roundel and bought a new PS2. I then bought a BMW Jack and an Impact Wrench and carry everything in my trunk when I go on road trips.

For the street, I now run PSS.

Very hard to get a near-stock powered car to lose traction and look nice & aggressive.

I hated the PS2s that came with the car, they were far too skinny and didn't grip well by comparison.

That's the good news. The bad news is if you have the non RFT 20" tires on your X5, you're going to have a hellava time (a) getting a flat one off and (b) lifting it into the back end of the car.

My Tires on my M3 are Yokohama Advan Sport, Front 255/30/20, Rear 305/25/20. Slightly more noisier then my stock Michelin tires I find, all depending on the road surface. The sidewall is slightly less on the Yokohama tires as a result the overall diameter is exactly the same when I compare my 19" Stock to the 20" Summer set up.

The tires came with the summer wheels I just purchased. For the wheels see my garage on the M3.

The car came new one year ago with Michelin tires on the stock 220 m wheels, I will use them now in the non summer months to take short trips around the block when there is no snow on the roads and the roads are dry since I cannot leave the M3 parked for 6 months.
