question about the shift lights

i have never been able to sit down in my car and have the shift lights be permanently active.

I took my car in for service and asked them if they could make this possible and they said no.

I reasked when i went to pick my car up and they just said its not an option they have available in current software settings.

i get in my car and turn it on to find out that in fact I do have permanent shift lights now...

was my dealership confused? is this a normal option for us to have perma shift lights?

maybe there was a software update done that gave you the option?

They can be set on as a per key setting within idrive.

I don't have iDrive, but they stay "on" for me.

same - no idrive and it is active for me in manual mode unless i switch it off.

i was a happy camper. its like christmas every time i drive now... red and yellow led lights and i have white and blue dome and other leds on the interior ha.
