Top Gun sequel?
While I did enjoy the 1980s film Top Gun, I think a sequel would be very, very hard to pull off successfully. I would be open to seeing it though for old time's sake...
This was in the news today, along with being on other websites anyone here thinks they should do it? Anyone here think Val Kilmer can fit into a flight suit these days? Quote:

Yeah, story lines gonna be tough for this one. Instructors? Commanders? Hard to say, but it could be cool.

Wow- she did NOT age well.
The original story was pretty contrived and trite.... Quick...there's a crisis in the Indian Ocean....instead of using the pilots already on the carrier, lets ship out the latest batch of grads from San Diego so we have a more interesting conclusion to the story than a mere graduation. I'll bet the pilots already on the carrier, no doubt including some Top Gun grads, were pretty pissed at that one. Maybe the remake could be the story from their perspective Really not much of a story arc. The movie really sold on the outstanding videography and hot stars. |

I think it's better to leave the original alone. There was something about that movie and the time it was released (1986) that made it very special with the cinematography and visual effects. What jets would they even fly today? The navy currently only has the F-18 which is older than dirt and it would be difficult to make it as cool as the F14 was back then. In addition; as someone already mentioned; the story in the original was incredibly far fetched and it would be difficult to believe anything even remotely close today after all of the war and battles that we have been in since.

They all have beer guts and are bored piloting drones in control center and when Iran captures our most advanced drone they have to get back into their old jets to finally fly for real to destroy drone.

if properly made, it could be a cool movie
but most likely, its going to suck, like the prequel to Dumb and Dumber, some movies dont need sequels, specially classics |

I would love to see a sequel full of hot actors and actresses who got old and fat but pretend to be still hot and sexy ....Kinda like a serious SNL sketch |
