ED License plate

Quick question,

Tried to search but not much help,

When you pickup from the Welt, how is the front license plate fixed?
screws, tape ?

Wondering because, NV you might be able to get away for not having a front license plate if there is no bracket for it

Thanks!

The EURO plate is attached with double sided tape. There's a bracket in the trunk to mount a US plate when you arrive.

When it is re-delivered to the US, be sure to pull the plate from the tape and then rub the tape off the bumper. Some have reported pulling the paint off the bumper.

Very cool souvenir...

When drop off in Munich, or any of the drop off locations, do not forget to ask them to save the ED plates.

Mine ended up in the trunk

the drop off location should have a note in both German and English to put the plates in the truck. Ask them when you drop it off.

Actually, the note should say to leave the plates on the car as "as is". That's how I took final delivery of my car. The ED drop off location will already have the pre-printed notes for you.

As mentioned above, please tell your USA Dealer to carefully remove the front plate. My Dealer ruined the paint on the front bumper removing the Euro Plate.

Damn, is leaving a note required? Unless they did it after I left, there was no note involved when I asked... I'll find out in a couple weeks I guess.

I just completed ED 3 days back and for me the front plate was just taped. Came off easily at the drop off and they let me take one of the plates along with original Title and registration. I am in Canada and she said all they required were copies.

I had heard you had to leave the plates on, otherwise I definitely would have taken the front back with me. I hope they leave it on or in the trunk or something.

Just got my car back after ED. The plates are still on. I know that drop-off office in Munich left a note in the car. Both plates are required to ship the car. However, now I'm debating how to remove the front plate: it's on there pretty solid. I've read that some people removed the paint off the bumper along with the plate Def dont want that to happen.

A simple note is all that was required!

I have both my ED plates framed and on my office wall!

I took the warning Triangle and First Aid kit with me after I dropped off the car. They are discarded at the VPC when the car arrives in the US since they don't meet DOT requirements.

I understand the warning triangle is secured via tabs that are attached with Torx screws. Those tabs/holders need to be removed at ED drop off too, right?

Do you know of the size Torx needed for these?

No need to remove the quick release tabs. Just take the triangle and first aid kit.

In general both plates must be left on the car during transport. I'm not sure how the drop off people let you take one. It's clearly explained in the PO.

Dental floss or fishing line works. I used GooBGoneto get the adhesive off.

Thanks for a tip. I washed my car today and that really helped. The plate gave up really easy

So when I shipped my car, I took triangle and first aid kit with me. When i picked up the car last Friday, release tabs for a triangle are no longer there! WTH Instead, there are 2 torx screws Now i have to find these so my triangle doesnt just slide all over the trunk.

Weird, I took my triangle and 1st aid kit with me as well. The my triangle tabs remained and I was actually told at Die Welt that I didn't need to worry about the tabs. The dealer should source them to you for free.
