[SCL_///M3]

Hi guys,

It's time to replace my tires. I've set my mind on a set of Michelin PSS (heard great things about them).
Question is, I'm thinking of going slight wider on the rears for better tractions. My Conti SC3s (245/265 35 19") suck. At less than 15000km, they got no tractions in 1st and 2nd gear when I'm aggressive on throttle input.
I'm considering to go with PSS 255/35/19F and 275/35/19R on my OEM 220 style wheels. would that be a good fit or should I stay with 245/265 combo as I heard that PSSs already look wider than Contis and PS2s.
Anyone already got them on your OEM 220s and how do you like them?

i have the oem size michelin pss (245/265) on oem 19" 220's and am very happy with them.they're not broken in yet,so i've been easy on them,but they feel good.they really do look quite wide,i wouldn't want wider.265's are also a couple pounds lighter than 275's.
that said,i am new to the car,so have no experience with other setups to compare to.

I went from Conti3's to the PSS's on my last M3 w/220m's. I first tried the popular 255/275 and surprisingly didn't like the feel/loss of torque. Don't know what it was, increased OD or weight or a combo of both? Anyway, it bugged me enough to lose them and try the PSS's in 245/265 and life was good again.

Whatever size you go with, I'd pick the PSS. You'll get noticeably more grip, wet and dry compared to the Conti's. The PSS's also look wider than the Conti's, they're sporting some very broad shoulders. Luv the PSS!

Guys who have 255/275 with spacers with 220 wheels, i beg you to chime in, as im lost as to what spacers i should get considering 18/15mm rubbed for me in the rear on dips and bumps.

Are you lowered? I had to remove my spacers (12r/15f) w/255/275 PSS's lowered on Dinan to prevent rear rubbing. There is no guaranteed formula due to differences in setups/alignments. It's a trial and error thing unfortunately.

It's refreshing to see that someone has noticed a decrease in performance with upsizing of tyres. I was just wondering how so many, who have upsized, couldn't feel any performance differences when there clearly would be especially with unsprung weight and a larger radius. Obviously, this excludes those who have had their engine power output increased.

Nope. Not lowered, but im considering some springs tho. So if i were to get new spacers it would have to accomodate the lower height.

lowered+spacers+bigger tires will increase your odds to rubs. You may be fine but don't be surprised if you rub on dips or with passengers. Also,
255/35-19's up front have a tendancy to rub on full lock. If you're lowering plus upsizing, I'd opt for conservative spacer's or none at all. Personally, I prefer a more aggressive offset over a lowered look. I'm currently running
12.5mm spacers w/my 220m's on stock suspension, looks great and I don't rub under full compression whilst maintaining that sublime comfort of the stock suspension...it's a beautiful thing! Trial and error amigo, trial and error.

hmmm. even if i dont lower, i have a feeling 12.5 mm still will rub tho. im not sure if the fronts rub, but now with 255 and no spacers, there is a slight whining noise on full lock. dunno if thats normal or not...
so yea... its either 5 or 10 mm on the rear, but does 5mm make a noticeable difference??

5mm is so subtle, I'm not sure if I'd go that route. That spacer also scares me, the wheel will barely grab the lip. I'd personally go 10mm minimum on the 220M. I know the Macht Schnell 10mm spacer sits flush on the 220M. Spacer's aren't a big investment so pick a starting point and if it doesn't work out, put them up for sale. It took me a couple of try's to dial in what worked for me. Good luck!

I personally like the 245/265 setup on 19" 220's with spacers to increase the stance (more bulldog like). I used Macht Schnell spacers 12mm rear 15mm front. Some people have complained that handling has suffered with a larger tire setup - but I have no experience myself.

I have a 255/275 set up on mine, with M3 GTS wheels 19x9, 19x10 and considering putting spacers 10mm in rear and 12.5 on front. Any issues rubbing???, btw is not lowered. Competition package so its nicely lowered stock.
Was planning to put them in this week, if anybody has any suggestion or experience with it, holla....would appreciate it.
