I don't see anything wrong - all cars were very close to each other, 2 car lengths at 280km/h is nothing...most surprised that the E63 couldn't win...
Have you just had the speed limiter removed or ECU remap? |

If its stock (i.e. with the electronic speed limiter) then most likely the 280km/h is 250km/h true speed if you account for the odo error at these speeds.

All things considered I think your M3 did better than I expected. The Porsche's PDK is superior than BMW's M-DCT and it's launch setup and execution works better, not only that but it will get better traction off the line so that should have given it the edge at the start on which to build a commanding lead.
Also the Porsche has superior aerodynamics (less frontal area) and superior power to weight so ultimately it was expected to win this race. I do think your chances would have been improved had you shifted after launch to D mode but at best it would have only pulled you closer to the E63. The surprise of the bunch was the E63, I expected it to come good at the end instead of matching you to 100km/h. I honestly would have thought that pressing your right foot to the boards in automatic mode without LC wouldn't have produced a launch compatible to the M3 but there you go, you learn something new everyday. P.S. Next time please try and get some video footage. |

Thanks for sharing your stories. Results are just what I would have expected. Carerra S with DI and PDK is no joke. M3 did very well to stay within 2 cars.
It sounds like Dubai is pretty much a driver's paradise with new, wide-open roads and minimal enforcement.

i think the Pcar driver is good and the other 2 suck (you for having all those problems and probably not choosing the right settings, why S5?), and the E63 for really sucking he should kill both of you easily

I find that a bit surprising due to the fact that the 0-150 mph numbers break down as such:
CARRERA S PDK 26.2 E63 23.5 M3 24.3 ???????????????????????? NO DRIVER SKILL INVOLVED, they are all Automated Transmissions |

The new Carrera S is no joke, it's close to being as fast as the 997 GT3 in a straight line

There will be a variation in these numbers from car to car. Time to speed has almost nothing to do with time to distance, so with its better launch, the Carrera might still be ahead at 150, with the M3 gaining at that point. |

Did the data I sent you help to determine the transmission loses? |

but on the rolling run, launching the car was not a factor and they should have finished in this order. 1. E63 2. M3 3. 911 S but I still believe that the launch should not be an issue in an automated trans, if they were all manuals, yes the E63 with the high tq and hp should be difficult to launch, but the M3's clutch make it tricky to launch also, with the 911 being the easiest to launch off the line, but these variables should not be a factor due to the fact of launch control and all being either an automated trans or fully auto trans. |
