as usual, things went to crap from concept to production. blah. rear end is a disaster, and the side profile is just awkward in my eyes.

I like it. A simple, lightweight RWD sports car is what this country needs. My only concern is that I heard the base price will be around $28k which is pretty steep for a car with only 200 hp Mustang and Camaro have 300+hp for $24k...

I'm sick of hearing about this car already. And thats before they flood the streets full of spoiled high school students.

+1. This car had more media attention than the new 3 Series, 911 and FF all together lol. Which in their own way, are all VERY important because of the tradition of the brand or message they convey.

Three things they should have changed to this car (imo) that would've made it more palpable:

1) Get rid of the stupid bulging channel that runs down the center of the hood to the nose. The front would actually looks sick without it.

2) Stupid useless fender vent + detailing up front looks like an after-thought. The car would've looked longer, and better, from the A-pillar forward without it.

3) Taillights look like they came off of a child's play toy...they seriously look like shit on an otherwise decent rear end. None of the iterations of the FT-86 concepts or this GT-86 have had good taillights. The FT-86 II was close.

Also not 100% on the way the trunk fits in. I never understood Toyota's obsession with making taillamps pop out of the body. Every Toyota has it; almost none look the better for it.

Actually, the FT-86 II's rear looks downright sexy by comparison, even if you compensate for the fact that the diffuser and rear vents aren't really sensible or effective for mass production.

Should've stuck to this and just toned down the diffuser and vents, and give the tails some red lenses.

Plus that gimmicky looking swage line running from the rear fender lip to the bottoms of the sides looks weird by comparison to the concept. Strange alteration imo.

I liked the idea behind it - small, decently priced, RWD, NA coupe, but the execution leaves a little to be desired. Curious to see how it actually drives though.
