DIY Exhaust Mod Request

Where did the DIY for the OEM exhaust mod go? Does anyone have some nice pictures and step by step. I have the general understanding. Just a few questions:

Before I start, what size SS pipe should I buy (OD and gauge) and what is the best paint to use to paint the body of the exhaust black to insure the weld doesn't rust when sealing everything back up?

Thanks for the help.

I just did the exhaust heat wrap method. Then welded it back up, ground the welds flat and finished with 3M undercoating the entire muffler. No issues, looks and sounds good.

Search in the exhaust section for oem mod. If I remember correctly, the original thread with details of the mod is quite old (like from 2008 or 2009).

Even though the exhaust mod sounds ok, you're still left with the ugly stock exhaust.

Very objective. And could change out the tips, paint the body black so you don't really see it, psh, looks good enough for me.

Some polished the exhaust with decent results. Look for posts by "Periokid". He did a step by step.

Yep, I saw that post and that is great for the pictures. I was just hoping to get a sticky for this since it comes up so much. I posted in the technical forum, but to no avail, I just want to know the size of the pipe so I can order some prior to doing it. I will do a write up when I do it for the forum - no problem. Places to buy pipe?

Thanks for the help!
