Would flood water (salt) damage HFCs?

Hey guys, my E92 M3 was flooded by Sandy's storm surge and totaled. I took all of the aftermarket parts off of the car prior to the insurance company picking it up. My x-pipe and cat back were fully submerged. Would this damage HJS metallic cats? I *think* (hope) the titanium cat back is ok...

I didn't want to waste my time throwing this on my new E92 if there would likely be a problem with it.

It got a good cleaning. O2 sensors are switched anyways. Water is dangerous for electrical parts. As long as it dries out it should be fine. Titanium is rust resistant so even salt water is not a problem.
Unless... You want to sell your Demaged akra to me for cheap you know since its water logged.

Thanks guys! Even though the x-pipe was stainless, it still rusted a little. My main concerns being the cats and the "guts" of the Vanguard mufflers. I'll flush the cats with fresh water, then I want to get the x-pipe sandblasted and ceramic coated to remove the surface rust and make it presentable again. I just can't throw a ragged looking pipe on a brand new car.

I certainly wouldn't mind having an Akra to sell you! My cat back is a Vanguard, the x-pipe is a AE performance with HJS cats welded in.

Try fine sanding and polishing with an aluminum/ss polish. It might do the trick and save you some $$$

It's a lot of real estate to hand polish, but you have a good point. I'll hit up home depot this weekend for supplies.

Maybe try using a drill with a power ball. Or a polisher

Unfortunately, my garage had about 3+ feet of water in it. Most of my stuff was trashed. Sears time!
