Besides, a few reviews said that the brakes faded very quickly. There are no miracles out there, it's either many pistons or you get slammed in reviews yet again. The fact that despite repeated criticism and the fact that ALL competition has VASTLY better brakes, BMW decided not to change them from the E46 speaks volumes about how BMW intends to position this car.

And all this "lightweight" bs and "lower center of gravity" when the car is heavier then the car it replaces (which uses no weight saving) and all this "born for the racetrack" spiel to impress the soccer moms and chearleaders with rich parents.

Think of motorcycles, every new model of a bike that comes out is lighter then the one preceeding it, while retaining all the amenities AND having more power. Why then bother with the CF roof if the rest of the package is so heavy? The new M3 is all about marketing.
Brilliant, comparing bikes to an M3. Are you for real?
Why do people post this stuff like it pertains the least little bit. Unreal.

The looks are ok with me. But, I am not liking the "let's stuff a V8 into this thing" trend when Porsche is putting out 355hp with a lighter car and as fast, better handling as the new M3. And better gas mileage. It seems they have lost some of the performance/raw aspects of the E46 M3 with this version to me.

I am just saying that there is not enough developement going into new cars.
How do you explain that the new M3 uses weight saving materials, but is heavier then the model it replaces? Reducing weight is twice as good as increasing power.

And you test drove the new M3 when?

If the magazine reviewer told you to jump.. would you ask how high?

I am talking about weight. It's 100kilos more despite weight saving measures.
The new M3 in the words of Lenin is "One step forward, two steps back."

Because its bigger.

And why is it bigger? Because nearly all cars get bigger as they evolve. Especially those meant to appeal to a huge audience, such as the BMW 3 series.

Yet the new 3er has roughly the same interior space.

So? I was just answering your question. Heck the 3 series and 5 series have "roughly the same interior space" too. Who the hell cares about interior space in a sports coupe? You are just grabbing at anything you can to criticize. How 'bout just go enjoy your RS4 and stop the hate parade?

The BMW M3 didn't need to be bigger/longer. Who drives spritedly with 4 people in the car...? Or track their car with 2 people in the back seat..?

2 sets of gold clubs is all the car needs to hold and just enough room for 2 adults in the back seat for a short rides. Your not going to tour or go on vacation with 4 adults in a M3.

Why cars get heavier and bigger is because they choose not to be leaders. Making a smaller M3 that would be 200lbs lighter with a cf hood and deck or fiberglass would've been better.

YES, the new //M3 is remarkable, but it's too heavy to be what it's trying to be; A Porsche..!

Not to mention the sh!tty interior. I'll just have to wait it out and test drive one. But knowing they will be releasing a DFI version soon will deter ALOT of potential buyers anyways. dumb!

It's just upsetting to know that it could've been better, ie smaller, lighter.

I thought the M3 was supposed to be a race car for 2 with a backseat. The M5 is a race car for 4...

Like previously mentioned. Why is BMW so stubborn on sticking with sliding single piston caliper on their M cars? All M cas should have Brembos from factory, especially with the added weight of the new models.

That is exactly my point, It didn't get any bigger, but got heavier. Look at te Audi TT Mk2, it got lighter despite being bigger. This is what BMW should concentrate on. And FYI I don't like the RS4 and was actually hoping the M3 would be a good replacement for it, but am not so sure now, C63AMG here I come!

You're concerned 'bout the weight but want the C63? That's weird!

Best regards, south
