Moonroof to carbon fiber retrofit

I have a e92 2011 m3 with moonroof. I regret not getting carbon fiber roof. Anyone retrofit an oem carbon roof? If so how much and how did it come out?

How much in labor would you think?

Guessing the cost is more than the roof. Keep in mind you'll also have to replace the headliner and other various interior pieces.

From what I've seen around the forums it should be about a $5k job at least. You're better off just leaving it as it is.

At that point, I'm sure OP is better off trading the car in, lol.

roof is $1700 + tax and ship for e92. PN: 54108045327

I would estimate the total job including a new headliner will put you around $4000-4500.

I just did moonroof to carbon roof over the winter, I did all the labor so there was no cost other then parts.

roof panel - $1556.62
front and rear window moldings - $54.04
used headliner (looked brand new) - $150 (got really lucky on this find)
glue - $40

The car looks a lot better with the carbon roof, I didn't really have a choice when I got my car so i knew this project was going to be done at some point.

Labor would be very expensive, I can see labor being more then roof.

+1

CF is over rated in my opinion. I would rather open the moonroof and enjoy the sound of the exhaust

Does anyone know why Mercedes Benz has better looking sun/moon roof? I dislike the look of BMW moonroof compared to other cars

Step by step instructions for Moonroof to Carbon swap.
1. Stop modding that car right now!
2. Sell it.
3. Buy a similar car with Carbon Roof.
4. Continue modding.

I don't disagree but I bought the car new in 2011. It had 26 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. I babied it during the break in period. Changed the oil every 7500 miles. This car has never seen snow or salt. It's been well cared for. It's hard to sell and take on someone else's car who may not have been so meticulous.....

I paid $4k installed for the iND roof.

Btw, well worth the weight reduction.

Not to mention tax. If you buy a car you pay tax and fees. Selling a $45k car to buy another $45k car is gonna cost you a little over $48k in ca
