Would you buy a 3rd owner e90 M3?
I have my eye on either an e9x M3 or an S4/S5. I found a 2008 M3, which is older than I'd want to buy, but it only has 32K miles. The other caveat is that he is the third owner. Do you think that impacts resale value a lot? Also, would you be wary at all?

Also, I have owned two BMWs in the past, but neither were Ms. What kinds of maintenance items can I expect in the near future?
How much do brakes cost on the Ms? I know for my e90 330i, they were about $1K IIRC. |

2008? Pass.
It's on you to determine if this car was sold because it kept breaking or because it wasn't being driven enough. As an e90, I would have a skeptical. |

IMO, you should never look at buying a sports car like an m3 with re sale in mind. Or youll always be scared to drive it, put miles on it, mod it, etc.

Would you marry a girl that slept with a few guys before you? Same idea you'll be the only one that knows. You and the DMV that is.

I think a good question is, "would you buy a house without an inspection and evaluation?" |

ownership # isnt an issue. look at the maintenance and general condition of the car like other said
There isnt anything wrong with 08 either (the only drawback i can think of is that it has older nav... but you can retrofit that if all else looks good) |

Im the third owner of my M. I bought it with less than 20K miles. It was maintained well before I got it so I didn't mind. One plus is mine is still under warranty. That might be something to think about.

On a high volume car like an M3, I doubt it would make much difference. I'm the 3rd owner of mine. Since buying, I've compiled the full service history and maintenance history. Car was well cared for as evidenced by the maintenance record and exterior condition. Those should be the primary factors in purchasing. Have a thorough PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done if you are seriously considering. Best money you will ever spend.

Mine - '09 24k miles, 3rd owner... no problem!! Take a low mile, well maintained multiple owner M3 over a ONE owner high mileage car all day long!

I'm also the third owner of mine; bought it with 6600 miles on it.
First owner had it for a year and traded it in on a Panamera in FL. Second owner was a Porsche guy that went to buy a new Porsche and decided to buy the M3 off the lot. Pre purchase inspection was flawless, car was pristine and the story checked out so I snapped it up. I drive so few miles/year that it will go to the fourth owner before it hits 20k miles. |

3 Owners @ 60K when I purchased it. If you look at the car and have proof maintenance was done, I am sure you are fine. Mines looked like a car with 20K miles and 1 owner when I purchased it. If it looks good to you and it checks out, why not?
