Last night, I caught this guy breaking into a car!!!
Brooklyn, 8:00 PM 12/30/2010...Thursday night, I am walking on busy 4th ave... and all of a sudden I hear the sound of a glass shattering, I look back towards direction of sound coming from... and I see this guy, actually only his legs sticking out of car's window... I took my Cannon camera out to take a pic, but flash didn't come up, so pic came out blurry... then I quickly switch my camera to video mode (and all this time car thief was not aware he was beeing watched and photographed) ... by the time I had video rolling, he was already out of the car, so I came around him and stuck the camera right into his face! He was stunned!!! ... he let out a sound, what sounded like, "Oh shit..." and started running... Few minutes later NYPD was already in posession of my video and looking for a thief!
Here is the Video: First Pic,- Thief is inside the car he broke into... all you see is his legs out of the window, some gloves in him back pocket...  he had no idea he was being photographed  Second Pic,- No comment. Third Pic,- This is a Still Frame from video showing Thief's Face... Last Pic,- Another Still Frame from video showing stolen property in Thiefs hand!!! IF YOU SEE THIS GUY, CALL NYPD!!!

Yeah, I didn't even think twice! This type of thing pisses me off big time! Where I come from, Moscow of rocking 90's, I have seen this shit too many times, I know this kind of animal and it is them should be scared of ME!
Interestingly, if I had a weapon in my hand, this kind wouldn't be so scared, but seeing camera rolling, capturing him breaking the Law, made him shit his pant!!! See how fast he is running? I am lucky, and he is lucky, that I only had Cannon PowerShot SD1400 in my hand and NOT A BASEBALL BAT... otherwise we both be in trouble right now... However, I do not have a bravado and such, the entire time of this incident, I was ready to react and dudge whatever could've came my way, knife.. bullet...

I now regret I din't take a chance to knock him out and or pursue him... he looked like he would't have enough steam to make another block running away...

You did more than most would. You should be proud of what you did. Assaulting him would have meant him suing you. We have a fucked up judicial system. You did the right thing.

They drove any way they wanted to, sirens, radio each other, other cruisers pulling over next to ours, my camera exchanging hands for other officers to see the video to get description of this Thief... The whole time I was sitting in back of their unmarked car, watching this whole operation unfold in front of me (... should've kept my camera rolling then too!) ... Then they drove me back to station to take some info etc,. I have been in touch with them ever since, one PO gave me his personal cell phone #, told me to call him in case I ever need anything, PD was absolutely thrilled with this photo-video material, could not stop laughing... I mean... these officers can drive any way they want to, everyone stays out their way.... oh man, I wish I could drive my M3 like that! I wish my M3 had those piercing bright blinking siren lights!!!
