Either drive or ride with a fellow M3 person...see if you can tell a difference. at 280 whp, you should be able to.
Just took my car in for service at 28k miles and they did the plugs and diff fluid in addition to the oil.

A little early on the plugs, but it can't hurt. Listen to Sal and Andrew...very knowledgeable. Post the dyno!

done!! but i dont see any SAE on the dyno sheet.. i took a picture of it sorry hope its readable my scanner is down!!

my boy was telling maybe his dyno could be retarted?? He told me to try another dyno?

i know it says 276 but that was the second run.. the last two where exactly 287 dont know why it didnt show it on the graph? we did a total of 4 runs bc the first time they screwed up and used 4th gear and realized to use 5th.. Thanks for your time guys!!!

They did mine in 4th gear. I don't know what I would have gotten before the update but with the update and k&n filters, I got 353. You can search for my thread. Sorry I'm using my phone to post this but search for 'got myself tuned' and you'll see the progression. And your tq just keeps dropping. Very weird

I'd try to hit up another dyno to cross check the results. There are so many factors that can affect dyno readings, it's not worth getting to freaked out over one instance.

There's a WinnFlow dyno at MaximumPSI in Linden, NJ which reads similar to the Mustang dyno. There's also a DynoJet in Garwood, NJ at Yosolo. I haven't been to their DynoJet yet but was actually planning on going this week to see how it differs from the MaximumPSI dyno.

Guys look at the curve. YOu will realize its not a dyno problem, its an engine problem. Look at that torque curve take a nose dive!! My guess is loss of compression and needs a compression test.

That is just plunging in torque. It should be a flat torque line until the last 1k

You should post more often and especially in threads like this.

Thank you.

Something doesn't look right...the car only got tested to 6800rpm, also it made almost 267 ft/lbs of torque which is actually a pretty damm good number especially on a Mustang dyno, but this dyno just seems mangled.

I'm not from westbury I'm from queens too fresh meadows to be exact.., I just drove out there bc that was where the dyno was. Sure if you don't mind maybe we can thanks..

Wow def missed it that he didn't rev it out all the way? WTF? The torque is a little weird.. I also noticed the a/f ratio 9.5?? I'm running to rich but that's kinda impossible would I see blk smoke out my muffler? Honestly the car feels strong doesn't feel like any missing power..

Thank you nikb316 for the dyno locations.. What's a Winn Flow dyno awd dyno also?

If there was a misfire or a bad O2 sensor would I get some kind of faulty code??

Losing compression can sneak up on you by decievingly dropping power without necessarily causing problems or codes. You simply are losing energy if you lose CR.

Its also hard to say your car "feels like its strong" if you have nothing to compare it to. 300 hp is still pretty strong compared to a lot of cars but not when compared to a true 420 hp.

I hope everything is absolutely fine and it was just a total fluke. Although I really don't know how you can explain a funky torque curve SHAPE. Peak numbers or max numbers can be explained by a poorly caliberated dyno but the shape of the curve in my view should not be that deformed if its purely a dyno

What causes loss of compression?! What do you suggest?? I run another m3 or get the compression checked out?

Its the dyno...its whacked.

Everyone wants this guy to spend money to go get a compression check and what not, yet no one notices the car was only revved to 6800rpm according to the dyno. Yet it still made 267 ft/lbs. of tq on a Mustang dyno?

To the OP, if its that important to you. Go get another dyno from another shop. The dyno you did in my eyes is whacked. These cars don't make peak hp until 8k rpm.

Dave

Correct this is now done at the 30k mile mark. If you are within a few thousand miles of this mark and you bring it in for another service they go ahead and do it. Mine got done at 27k miles as well.
