Bye Bye E90 Hello E92

So BMW bought back my 09 E90 because of the main bearing issue (they replaced the crank/bearings the first time and sound came back so they were going to do a short block.) I inquired about a buy back they agreed and I found a '10 E92.

The E92 seems to drive easier in the sense that the steering is not as stiff, anyone else notice that? Additionally I have some road noise around 15-20 that sounds like one of the tires off balance maybe but otherwise car seems to be running well, and NO CLICKING!

As much as a pain as it has been with the car in the shop I think BMW did a good job of keeping me happy, A+ for customer satisfaction.

BMW bought back my 335i 2 months before my lease expired because of the damn HPFP problem. They even gave me back 2 years of payments minus mileage. So, when I picked up my new M3 they also cut me a check for 15k! Thank you BMWNA service!

Glad to hear you were treated well. Good for you!

I was not that lucky with a BMW Dealership in Idaho Falls last year ... I was lied to and they screwed me good.

Guess there are Good and Bad BMW Dealerships ... just like Good cop and Bad Cop

I don't want to talk about it anymore ... Details are here in this Dealership Review Thread ---> in case you like to read about it click here and scroll down to post #26

You aren't the first to get their car bought back from BMW because of this main bearings issue. I hope my car doesn't follow this fate. Hope you have good luck with this one.

What have been the symptoms of the main bearing failure? Can you describe them?

Was it a ticking kind of noise? or a rubbing kind of noise? How would you describe it?

When you refer to "Main Bearing" was it one of the Main Crankshaft Bearings, or Rod Bearing?
