You can see the small red marks all over. Great idea but sloppy work. Not like I can do much better myself haha.

I love how they kept the R8 side titanium sill hahaha. It really gives it away... I love the design theme though. I hope they really do make it. I was actually just talking about the M1 Hommage in my weekly news video for BMW Blog, and I said that I hoped they made the Hommage. It really is beautiful, but once I saw the new M1 "spy" shot I drooled my ass off.

M1 SPY

Quote:
We've been debating whether or not this is a real photo or an expert rendering, but if it is a photoshopped image of a BMW M1 prototype, then it is very convincing. According to FreshTarmac.com, this photo was taken in a hangar in Spain. It shows a sleek two-door, probably mid-engined coupe with attributes of the new M3 incorporated into its design, especially the front fenders and hood. With BMW introducing the M1 Hommage Concept at the Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este last week, we hope this means that is already considering a production version. Come on BMW, build it! Thanks for the tip, John!

Based on the hood (power bulge and air extractors) and the lack of air inlets in the B-pillar area, I would not bet on that being a mid-engined car. But with that radically sloped rear roofline, I suspect it's a two-seater.

thanks for moving atr, and i agree with you on the unlikelyhood of this being a mid-engine either PS or proto.

April Fools Joke In May? This Site Says They've Caught The BMW M1 In The Flesh!

Do these guys think we're one of those faceless, emotionless, generic, inspected by employee number 15 type of car blog?

A couple people have been emailing me that these guys have caught the BMW M1 in an airplane hangar.

Sorry to break everyone's heart here but all this is, is a pretty good photoshop mashup of the Audi R8, BMW M3, Acura NSX and add whatever else strikes your fancy here at the end.

Even though it's a spoof, we still LOVE the idea of an M1 coming to market.

Audi is re-identifying their entire company by having the wicket hot R8.

So you don't think the boys and girls in Munich are gonna let them ride, do you?

We think it's a pretty good bet you'll see the M1 come to market.

And to all our competitors...they got ya!

Rookies!

Anyone else think it looks awesome? PS or not!! The production model (if ever) will probably look pretty toned down.. something like that.

There's enough noise around this to convince me BMW will come out with an M1 supercar. It's the only thing missing from the BMW lineup: a true halo model. The R8 is a success, and why wouldn't BMW want to muscle in on that action...

To my eye, the white photoshop is more appealing than the Hommage. If they produce a new M1 along these lines, I hope they'll avoid doing a retro-modern interpretation of the old M1...
