I wouldn't go to BMW… cause if they find one, they can mark that the car was tuned
i would ask a local tuner/shop to check the ECU

^^ just stop by your local tuner (most reps won't care, and would probably ignore, but you never know...)
There are some members here with 100K miles tuned, so I wouldn't be to worried about buying a tuned M if it was done by someone reputable, and everything was maintained properly... |

Paging Mike Benvo. He could check for you remotely by mailing you the necessary cable and then remoting into a VM that you'd set up on your machine, though whether he finds one or not, I'm betting he'll offer to sell you his tune.

He lives in LA but he can do all of his work remotely as long as you have a machine capable of running a VMware VM, which he remotes into after he ships you the appropriate cable to hook up to your car.

The side mirror thing is coding, not tuning, which is cheaper. I code for free, but not remotely. Cold start would be part of an engine tune, but yeah $1000 is a bit steep if that's all you want as opposed to the performance changes.

Depending on what's loaded to the car, it's unlikely that the dealer would be able to tell even if you asked them to check
You can always mail your DME to us with same day turn around time to save on costs.

Cold Start disable will require a tune (as previously stated), so that won't be as cheap as coding. I know EAS also does coding, but not sure if they do it remotely… tom@europeanautosource.com I know Alex@Alpine can do it as well and I believe he does indeed do it remotely. alex@alpinemss.com

If it's tuned in that way the only option is to simply over write and update to the latest 240E version + tune. It could well have an old tune on it. Most tuners won't care what's on the DME, they will simply overwrite with the latest firmware and deliver their calibration. Email around asking for deals on coding + tuning and what functions are available and base your opinion on what ever is important to you as a potential customer. |

Do you have a catless exhaust set up? If you don't then there is no sense doing a cold start disable... if you do and you don't have a CEL, then there is a decent chance you are already tuned although not certain.

It can be as little as just deleting the codes and nothing else. The codes with a deCAT without fail should be: 2789 and 278A - Catalytic Converter Efficiency Bank 1 and 2. |

I did a cold start disable and I still have stock cats. The GT2 exhaust was so freaking loud it would shake the house, which is why I opted to disable the cold-start feature.

The cold start delete is night and day different and I would highly recommend it if you have a loud exhaust to begin with.

I am just struggling with doing an tune at that price since I drove a 2010 with an ESS tune and there was no meaningful difference in power. Car drove a little smoother but def not worth 1k in my opinion. Looks like I will save a little longer and just supercharge.
