I would go with black or rust brown.

Platinum all day... or Oyster as a second for MCB. It's not hard to keep clean as long as you use proper products like Lexol. I'd keep a container of leather cleaner wipes in the trunk too. You'll be fine...
Contrast is where it's at IMO. Dark ext + Light int or the opposite. No offense to those with blue and red but that's a little too Superman for me. (I'd love to see Frozen Estoril with Platinum extended) Now that would be gorgeous!

hmm.. everyone seems to like the Rust Brown, but it looks so orange to me. It's very similar to saddle brown, correct? Just way more orange/intense? I never liked Saddle brown...
I'm seriously leaning towards bamboo non-extended; it doesn't cost extra, it seems like everyone with MCB has it, and I don't want black. Platinum is very nice but a lot more money (as well as Rust brown). If i'm going to be upgrading to the M4 indefinitely in the future, it would be silly to dump so much extra $ into it for the interior. Thoughts? |

Well here's the thing OP, if you want to be just plain Jane conservative, do bamboo, if you wanna be out of the box, fox red is it(since we are talking no charge colors)
I look at it like this.......you can get black or beige in literally almost any car on the planet, no? That's what makes bright/colorful interiors sooooo much more special and normally cost more as options(all car co. In general) Fox red pros- m3 exclusive, exotic(compared to black or beige) Fox red cons- not everyone's cup of tea(but if ur worried about resale, if ur getting MCB, u won't have a prob no matter wut color ur interior is, due to rarity n exclusivity)

IMO, black is the way to go. Fox red is great but doesn't look good with MCB. My second choice is rust brown.

I agree with you, but I wouldn't want to go too far out of the box until I get a car i'm going to keep for a good, long time. I am buying an e92 because i'm driving a beater right now and am really tired of it. I can't wait 3-4 years for the M4 to come out in a POS. My idea was to get the e92 now, drive it until the M4 is released, wait a year or two for them to work out the kinks, then sell it. If I get blue on red I feel like it will really make it harder for me to resell, as well as trade in (dealers would probably low ball me hard due to the colors). Monte carlo blue really does make re-sale much, much easier. I remember Mark's MCB on rust brown sold in a matter of days. Here's the thing though, every MCB e92 I have seen was either bamboo, black, or rust brown. There aren't any Fox Red's; which I believe is for good reason. Interlagos blue on fox red is more common because Interlagos is no where near as bright and metallic as monte carlo is. Red on that darker interlagos blue isn't AS far fetched I think, but when you slap it onto something that bright blue, it starts to get clown car esque. I kept hyper focusing how it would look like from the back; you see the red tail lights and the red head rests poking up from the back windshield and it just looked so silly in my mind. This also further enforces the point to not get something like platinum. If I am planning on selling the car for an M4 sometime in the future, why pay another ~$3600 for an individual interior? You can argue this against the outside too, but I believe MCB exterior will actually boost my resale considerably (as stated before). In retrospect, I was stuck on a mineral white e92 on extended fox red. I had a white on red 335i and loooooooved the red interior. I've also had 6 blue cars and really looked hard for a blue m3. It boiled down to which do you love more? Interior or exterior? Shame they don't go good together. When I buy an M4 (or M3 coupe if they keep the name w/e) I might go for blue on red, just because I know i'll be keeping that one for the long haul because there won't be a redesign on the horizon. Bamboo non-extended seems to be the best bet as black is boring I really tried to like the bamboo extended, but all the black cut outs for the buttons and cup holders, make it look bad. Why didn't they just make those trim pieces the same color like they do on individual extended interiors? Clashes way less in those. Maybe because i'm ordering it, they can just do an extended option where the door/seats are bamboo and the rest of the extended is black. Think they would do that w/o extra charge because i'm paying for the extended anyway? One can try! .... I still really want fox red though, but I keep telling myself this isn't a permanent decision, ride it out, it stil doesn't look bad with bamboo. Also, google "blue ferrai spyder" or just "blue ferrari" Notice what color all those interiors are |

i live in Woodbridge, my cousin used to live in Reston town center, so may have seen it up there a couple times, not working right now, looking for something new, but i drive around quite a bit in VA(stafford, fairfax, alexandria, arlington, springfield)
Good luck, no matter what you choose it will be great, but take one thing into consideration, why not purchase a used 09'/10' with warranty, instead of buying new and taking a beating on it(reason i say this is, as you know and i know as well as everyone else knows, when a redesign comes out, old design, no matter how beautiful or special color it may be, you will lose your ass on it, especially when buying new) just my $0.02 trust me, i have owned over 25 cars in 10 years (age 15-25), my father is in the car business, take my word on this maybe we can meet up one day whenever you get your new baby

I have been looking for used 2011's, but they honestly aren't much cheaper and warranty would be out in 2014. Used 2012's are almost the same price as a new one. AND THEY'RE ALL ALPINE WHITE with BLACK INTERIORS! How f'ing boring. I would want mineral white for a used one, but literally can't find one. I searched the entire country. Only mineral whites I find have black interiors. I despise black interiors |

Rust > bamPOO!
Safe for resale is black, not bamPOO. Worst interior color for the e9x m3, hands down! Don't ruin mcb with it!

OP, that blue one is nice, do it, pretty decked out and $64k for a car with 2k miles Now if u did a MCB ur car might be close to $80k and u will still take at least a $15k hit, but u know better

Is heated seats really worth $10k, don't think so, I had to make that sacrifice on my car when I got it last year, it was a super deal
