Suspension advice

Hey guys,
Just thought I'd run something by u guys.. I have an08 e90 m3 with edc.. I use it as my summer daily driver.. Plan to eventually do a couple track days every year for pure fun. I picked up a dinan stage 1 kit plus cambers used for a great price.. After further research, I am second guessing myself, wondering if I should have gotten the kw sleeve kit. I have read all about the innate lack of bump travel in the m3s, etc and how the dinan kit accounts for that. My question is what are you guys dropped on? How is the ride and the performance compared to stock? Should I sell the dinan and pick up the kw as the drop is so much cleaner with the adjustable sleeve kit?

Get the H&R Springs. I got them on my M5 and love them. EDC still works and I cant tell a ride quality difference

The m3 has only 3/4 of an inch of bump travel before the bumpstops.. Granted the bumpstops are progressively stiff to account, the h&r springs and most springs are purely cosmetic mods and totally eliminate the bump travel on m3s. I want something that will preserve or increase the performance and conserve ride. Thats why I feel the dinan is ideal, though i wish the drop was better. The KW coil kit is an interesting compromise vs a full coilover system though. I figure when my EDC shocks go out, ill just upgrade to KW V3s as the EDC shocks are 715 each.

I have Eibach springs with E36 M3 bump stops. Only difference (as I recall) from Dinan kit is that I didn't shave my guide supports.

I've been really happy with it, still retain EDC, although it is slightly firmer, and squat, roll and pitch are less prevalent now and I don't bottom out on the bump stops.

The drop is subtle but just enough to clean up the gap. I have about 17k miles since I installed.

I haven't touched my suspension yet but when I do, I will be going the KW route. I feel that you are paying too much for Dinan for what you get. Isn't the stage I Dinan just springs and a few other things at around $1,000? Where as springs (swfit, H&R, Eibach) are less than $500? Used KW kits go for around $1,500, just a little more than the Stage 1 Dinan but much more capable.

This is my .02 and my knowledge is from some brief readings. I haven't looked into this quite yet.

U appreciate all the feedback I'm getting!! We need to meet up soon so I can get a ride in some of you all's suspension setups. I picked up the dinan used with 5000 miles on it. Paid around 900 for the stage 1 kit plus camber plate.. Which is a pretty decent deal but now I'm wondering if I should sell it for the kw sleeve kit. I talked to Ind today and they said they are very similar in the performance save for the kw drops u more. I called HP autoworks and they pretty much said anything but a full coilover kit is a waste... What to do what to do lol

My Eibach springs were under $300 shipped new and new E36 bump stops run $50. Alignment is necessary with any suspension mod so that's a moot point.

I agree though, springs for cosmetics and minute dynamics improvement, Coilovers if you really want to accomplish something with handling characteristics.

I went with springs because it was cheap, retained EDC, and is a benchmark for future suspension upgrades when my shocks need replaced-full Coilovers then.

Where are you in cbus? I live downtown but work NW of Dublin.

I just swapped out my Ground Control sleeve over kit for B&G springs with bumpstops. Great drop and the ride isn't harsh at all, close to OEM to be honest. Definitely worth considering for the price. In all honesty you will never adjust the sleeve kit most likely, so why pay extra... unless you will adjust it, then by all means.

Retains EDC and cost me much less than sleeve kit, said and done... Very happy customer.

ec_E92, I live in upper worthingon near 270 and 23. I work at Riverside (Im a medical resident). Iamcpap, you are right, I will probably never use the adjustability. I have had coilovers on my old cars and just set and forgot them. I am thinking of using all the components of the dinan kit( bumpstops, front upper and rear upper mounts) and using a swift or B&G spring in order to achieve a nice stance while preserving strut travel. Any thoughts on that?

yah doing away with the front gap would be nice from an aesthetic point of view, but I do not want to do that at the expense of the amazing driving dynamics of the m3. I will likely just stick with the dinan kit as it has nothing but good reviews.. I will probably upgrade to kw v3s in a few years when I retire the car from being my daily driver.
