Nice writeup! I like the positive words on the M-DCT!

Swamp-
Thanks for sharing the adventure/experience!

I very nearly had a similar one in Athens last September. My wife and I were on vacation right about the time of the initial launch. As she is a tree-hugger and certainly not a car lover, we skipped the unknown-length taxi ride to the dealer who may or may not have had a copy. IF I had done the work you had pre-trip, we could have pulled it off.

We are also hikers. Perhaps a trip to Palomar will be needed sometime soon? My car arrived at Bremerhaven today. Hopefully I can pick her up in April?

swamp,

You notice the similarity between this sales person's opinion of DCT and what me opinion of the gearbox is like

Quote:
He described the automatic modes as truly flawless, smoother and better than any automatic box.

My comments on the actual system are 100% accurate and non-bias and hopefully you can see this now.

I look forward to sampling the gearbox in something which isn't turbo based and with a much higher rev range, it will be interesting to see what this multiple modes offer and see if they are only marketing BS or actually useful in their entirety.

I never questioned your evaluation of the benefits and performance that the automodes of M-DCT will offer. You did note that he spent most of his time puttering around in automatic mode, right? As you describe it this sounds similar t to the way you drive your VW DSG car. Lastly, if you wish to be compared with the same fellow who thought the similarities between the last gen M5 V8 and E9X V8 are greater than the current E60 M5 V10 and the E9X V8 then that is fine with me.

My color combo on order is Space on Fox with the Aluminum trim.

Thanks swamp. Nice read. I'm glad it was a positive experience for you.

I can't wait to see one IRL. Hopefully only another week or so before my dealer gets one of theirs.

You look great! Your posts would suggest you might be wearing a pocket protector, so call me pleasantly surprised... hehe (not that one should be "judged" on looks, ugh)

I am more surprised by the fact that he doesn't have beer glass thick glasses and a Tweed jacket with Hush Puppy shoes, in other words your normal everyday nerdy professor out of the Disney film 'Flubber'.

Trust me swamp, because of this my opinion of me has gone up 1000%.

Great writeup about a great car! Nice pics too.

The only thing I wish was better in the new M3 is the interior.. it just looks like 'nothing special'.
