Where can I drive my M3 in NC?

I had mine for 3 months now and sick and tired of following traffic rules and speed limits. My only enjoyment is 0-60 when I'm the first car in a traffic light. Where can I take my M3 to drive the heck out of it in NC? Mind you that I'm not looking for a drag strip or a boring left turn nascar speedway. I'm sure anyone with an M3 out there understands me. Thanks

Go to the track. Check out VIR, it may be close to you. Otherwise, search your regional forum for where others go.

There are lots of good driving roads in western NC, you just have to take some time and explore. I'm in the Triangle area, and one good road is the highway (forget the number) from Marion heading northwest towards Spruce Pine. Another good road is west of Boone, heading into TN. But I'll warn you, caution is necessary, both for safety and legal risks. On the weekends, some of the best roads can be crowded with car, motorcycle and bicycle traffic. Taking a day or two off during the week is the best strategy. You have to take it slowly through a section of road, paying attention not only to traffic, but road surface conditions, and then go back at greater speed. But these roads aren't secret to law enforcement, and they can be heavily patrolled by NCHP and local agencies. And since hazards can materialize instantly, you can't be crazy. You have to be under control all the time. Don't mean to preach, but I've seen some extremely dangerous behavior on some of these roads. Going off the mountain with a cyclist in your grill is a tragedy to be avoided! If you have no track experience, I would highly encourage a few DE events at VIR before taking any mountain trips, if enthusiastic driving is your goal. These roads are in no way a substitute for the track. Have fun and be safe.

The whole area within 100 miles of Deals Gap are great roads to drive.You will never get bored in that area.Go to Deals Gap but explore the area.129 to the Gap is awesome coming from the south.I have done it many times on my bikes.

Bah...last time I went there it was so overcrowed with motorcycles and other cars...not to mention police that it was really no fun at all for me.

When I lived in NC and SC, I used to just go out into the countryside for drives and never had any problems finding places to open up my 811rwhp Cobra

There's a MazdaDrivers.com event next weekend at VIR (using the full course). Last I knew, there were a few spots left. One of the best HPDE's around, with plenty of track time!

Kershaw South Carolina has a 2-3 mile road course called CMP Carolina Motorsports Park. Its an hour drive from Charlotte.

Some fun roads south-west of Ashville in Pisgah National Park. You'll be able to tell which via google map's... ;-) Also some amusing roads south of Highway 40 east of Ashville.
