Parking Brake / E-Brake -- this may make the 10 dumbest M3 questions list

Can someone tell me if I'm supposed to hold the button down before pulling up when I park? Or am I supposed to just pull it up and lock it that way? Or does it not matter?

Doesn't matter. Clicks are just different lock heights.

I just pull up. I only press the button to put it down. I will reserve judgment on how dumb this question is until i see other responses.

I prefer your method... it's easier on the latch mechanism.

Better to raise the e-brake with the button down as you avoid friction in the mechanism.

A manual transmission requires THREE pedals man .
And yes, you can call your automatic M3 an automanual if you want, but you'd be no different than a fat lady fantasizing that her 'women size 4' is not a 14 .

We get it macho man.

Now that that's out of the way... Back to the topic. Holding the button down seems like it would put less stress on the mechanism so I usually hold the button down (on my non-M of course lol).

No 'macho man' here; just calling it like it is . NOW it's out of the way .

Either way is optional. I always just pull it up, then when I hear the clicking, I actually know that the E-brake is actually working.
