That's correct do a thorough cleaning with sonax then apply wolfs rim sealant. The sealant should last you a few months where all you need is soap and water to clean the rims. Don't use sonax on them again or else it will damage the protection of wolfs sealant. Look at the water beading on your rims and try to use that as a guide of when to reapply the sealant

I usually wait a day or so before washing the wheels.

I use Sonax with good results
Even better is Meguiars wheel brightener, really strong stuff. Works like a charm. There can be some trouble with tar stuck on the wheels. I used Thinner ( white spirit) for the stubborn spots I treated my 220 with Chemical Guys Wheel guard. Gives a really smooth surface and smells great :-) Wonder how long it will last. |

Btw, finally invested in a pressure washer (Karcher). It makes a HUGE difference in how effective the SONAX wheel cleaner works. Takes so much more brake dust off.

What's a good over the counter wheel cleaners you guys recommend for aftermarket wheels with a polish lip? I used some type of mothers wheel cleaner and it made the lips look hazy and oxidized.

I'm not sure if griots is considered over the counter but their wheel cleaner works great. Ordering online has become so simple check out some sites because there are tons of options to choose from

Turtle Wax All Wheel & Tire Cleaner with Wax
http://www.turtlewax.com/tirewheelhu...eaner-with-wax This is what I use. I have used a few other cleaners with no satisfaction. With my initial use of this stuff I removed build up I had been trying to get off for sometime. After that they have been really easy to maintain, even just spraying and washing off. It has a wax in it to help protect, this IMO is the best stuff out there. Slight agitation was initially needed but now I just either spray off or do a quick rub down.....hahaha! |
