Fantastic close up Ed.

Mark, love the Bath shot and the way you processed it.

Nice head on shot, DC.

Very cool, Ed. So will the Tammy be relegated to the bag now? No longer the true big gun if you TC the 500.

^^^Fun pic!

Mark, the Tammy still has a place for me. It is a fantastic lens for trains planes and automobiles. It is much easier to carry around at an airshow for instance. For birds though, the auto focus is kind of helpless, especially on the 1D4 as AI servo doesn't even work right.

The 500, even with the TC on it, just locks on almost instantly. I just need to work on my Popeye arms

Near Saigon in 1968. Pardon the poor processing. I was just learning to "mess with chemicals" at the base hobby shop in my off time, makes me appreciate digital cameras even more.

Yeah, keep working on the arms, it's well worth it.

Great shot and congrats on the lens.

it makes me appreciate film even more.. its cool that we can take an ultrasharp photo and process it with a thousand different ways but that shot looks more "real" to me

The problem though is that we can appreciate it for the tones, grain and contrast but those who are digital think... That's a crappy photo, it isn't sharp/clear.
I like it.

The sky seems to have Cloning spots in it. You might want to smooth those out.

A bit of a drizzly day at the NWR, but the Black-tailed jackrabbits were out in force.

Already addicted to 700mm I see. Don't blame you.

Look at that color and contrast. Super shot.

More work on older stuff. This is a 5 shot pano, hand held and stitched in PS, then pseudo-HDR'd. The pic links out to a larger (5000px wide), but still reduced image. Looks much better that way. Stuffing into this small size makes it sort of fuzzy.

Color one, DC. Nice progression from dark to light and looks to have just two tones, blue to cream.

Loving it very much, yes, and yeah, the 1.4 I think will pretty much live on it. That along with the crop factor of the 1D gives me pretty good reach while maintaining f5.6 and af, which is nice if needed.
