October 2010 BIMMER Magazine "Sportiest Article"

Just got my October (? - just a bit early) issue of Bimmer Magazine. They drove several of what they considered to be the sportiest BMW models at a recent BMW press event and rated them on sportiness. It's an interesting article that doesn't appear to be available on the Bimmer site yet. They are very complimentary of the the capability of the X6 M. They liked the M3 ZCP best and the 335is second. Here's the key quote; "Until you drive the M3 back to back with the 335is and the other BMW's it's hard to appreciate how much better this car (the M3) really is through every corner."

Interestingly, they said, "the new N55 single turbocharger and single catalytic converter make it feel strangled by comparison to the twin-turbo, dual-cat N54".

I didn't even get the August issue of Bimmer. How did you get the October issue?

They really liked the 335is and commented that the 320 hp N54 worked very well.

Here's what they drove and the rankings:
8. 135i conv
7. 335i conv
6. 135i coupe
5. 335i sedan
4. X6 M
3. Z4 sDrive 35is
2. 335is coupe
1. M3 ZCP

They drove all the cars on both street and track. The ratings were based on "fun to drive" (subjective rather than objective criteria).

hmmmmm...it appears they didn't separate the E90, E92 and E93. I suppose they would be ranked

1. Coupe
2. Vert
3. Sedan

Uh, think again... More like:

1. COUPE
2. Sedan
3. Vert

All the other convertibles were at the bottom of that list.
