2 Tons Enough?

I purchased this Craftsman Aluminum Floor Jack today.

I'm hoping the "cup" won't damage the lift point of the car, what do you think?

Yup! I have my old stands.

I don't wont to come off as a total noob! I have mostly Snap-On & Mac tools. I have had a few makita drills back in the day, but they have since been long lost. But I never paid attention to the volts so I didn't know what I should get this time around. Re the jack, I have some cheapo stuff that I didn't want to use for my new car and I didn't know if I should buy a higher rating or if 4K lbs. was enough. As I have gotton older, I ask more questions compared to when I was younger and just did things with reckless abandon, that's all.

I'm a pretty handy guy, I do the all regular stuff like oil changes and I have done all the mods myself sans the suspension.

Is the only advantage of that aluminum one over the one I posted the lighter weight of the jack itself?

3 tons? Geez! Note that you're not lifting the entire vehicle up - at most you'd be lifting half of the vehicles weight (assuming the other end of the car is still planted on the ground) - thus, you'd only be lifting just under 1 ton.

I've seen many of those style jacks sell for 5-7 hundred bucks or higher.... I thought 200 was cheap for that style

What is so great about that style?

What advantages does it offer over cheaper ones?

you can get one from costco for 100 bucks like i did. but since hrc is a baller he went with the other route. the difference between this one and the cheap is, this one is a full aluminum body. its lighter. it also can go lower then your cheap jack. the part to lift the car up is bigger. it have the new design with the one wheel in front. and it looks way cooler in your garage.
