service due? ~4wks old/600 miles...

at start up I get service message in the middle cluster, and a service due alert on my idrive. All systems check ok via idrive...

stopped by to see my CA and put my key fob in to see what's the message for, appears it's just there to let me know to service in 600 miles (my 1200 mile service). My CA said the newer models are getting warnings earlier and earlier...just thought I'd share...600 more miles to go And now I get a pleasant service message every start up to remind me...

Mine did that also ~600 miles. I got worried at first but after reading threads over at the maintaince section, it looked like it was normal.

When I finally took it in @ 1200 miles, dealer didn't say anything was wrong and knew about the early service message

You should've gotten a call or email from your prefered service center telling you about the service. Check your service request screen to see if your car dailed into the center.....Phil

Read the message exactly, it will tell you that it is just a reminder to schedule your appointment soon, it's not actually telling you that service is due right this instant.

Are you servicing at Center? I wanted to service my M3 there, but they won't provide a loaner since I ordered my car from Pacific BMW.

What a stupid policy. I never had this issue from Lexus or MB. I'm ordering a new X5 for the wife in a couple months. Am definitely not buying from Center.

Back on topic, I'm at 600 miles also.

thanx for your insight....only get 2 messages, middle cluster at start has the car icon and says "service". iDrive messge at upper left of screen briefly states "Service Due"...no other messages via Idrive in any other of the categories.....

Yes, I've always serviced at Center. That policy sounds about right, buy my SA always got me a rental, never a loaner with my previous BMW (leased from Valencia BMW). But since I leased this current BMW from there, I hopefully won't have an issue getting a loaner come time for service.....

My SA is Andre in case you want to know....

Yea, I thought the same thing when mine popped up at ~600 miles. If you go into the vehicle info in the idrive and look at the alert (click on it) it will tell you your service is coming up and to schedule an appointment soon

Thanks for the info. If it was just for the 1200 mile service, I wouldn't care about the loaner. But I need to leave my car for a day or two to reprogram the i-drive.

You should have no issues with getting a loaner. There exact words were "our loaners are reserved for customers who purchased cars from us."

After 3 rentals my SA (Andre) finally did give me a loaner, so honestly it depends on your SA and your relationship with him. If you ask for Andre, let him "gene" (filipino guy) referred you.
