High load, high rpm whine - tips identifying the noise?
During a great weekend mountainside flogging I noticed a noise I have not heard before. Warm temps about mid 80s, four adult passengers, full tank of fuel, AC on, 8% grade. Thus at high load and then at high rpm, perhaps in the 6-8k range I noticed a clearly audible, but not loud, dullish squeaking/whining sound. It was not high pitched, more lower in pitch. Loosely sounded like it was coming from the dash. My best guess was a belt. I certainly should have experimented with AC off but had to focus on the road! I am hoping someone else has had a similar occurrence and found the cause and fix for it.
