Used Cars Compilation

So, im in the market for a used car around 25-30k, and so far my list goes:

2008 350z

2009 370z

2012 Mustang V6 (new)

2008 BMW 335i

2005-2007 Porsche Cayman

2003 Porshe 911 (Carrera, most likely)

Please, add any others in that price range (non-SUV, can be a sedan, but prefer not) that you would buy.

Also, insurance wise, what do you look for? weight? engine displacement? # of cylinders? im not sure as to how its measured, as i hear e9x are fairly easy on insurance compared to others.

(I know its similiar to the other thead, but this one is more specific.)

Thanks

****and please, do not say to save my money and buy a beater*****

I'd go with the 370z. The porsche are too old too pricey to fix. I'd never buy a v6 mustang even tho the new one is great. The 350z is an ancient model now found cheap if you want one get a 2003 and save yourself some cash nevermind the HR V6 from 06+. 335 dunno Im not the biggest 3 series fan they now can be had for cheap and are driven by douchebags. Thats how I came up with the 370z.

funny, the 370z and 335i were my top choices.....

hows the insurance compare on those two?

also, FUN FACT: The 370z has the same unlock button on the handle, where if you are standing close to it, it will open when pressed, similar to a 335i..... jus sayin

(i know thats on alot of cars... ehem... Altima, but ive never used it b4 on any car)

What about a Vette? Best bang for the buck by far.

Do a search on cars.com. You can get up to a 2008 for that price.

OP, this guy below isn't referring to the STi, it's just the WRX model which now aesthetically mimics the STi hatchback. Also, performance wise the WRX is considered the same car as the STi. (0 to 60 @ 4.7) I agree with this guy for the same car, because I was in the market for one at one point.

Also, if you haven't already, test drive a 370Z. I personally find them to be a bit rough and not refined.

Good luck with your search!

Just want to chime in about the WRX/STi performance comparisons; people tend to quote the two's 0-60 times quite frequently with the allusion that they even in a straight line, but the main reason for the similar 0-60 times has more to do with their gearing than anything. 1/4 mi times are still a good deal different.

The WRX is still a great buy. I was (still am) hugely into the hatch myself. Not too big on the sedan though, even post-facelift with the widebody.

The 370Z has always been a car I've liked but could never see myself owning. The NVH issues wouldn't bother me so much as all the other choices that are available that I'd rather have.

With used cars, its all about what is available locally and what condition it is when you are looking. If I were you I would spend some time exploring private parties, seeing what's available used near you for cheap and see if you can pick up something fantastic cheap. That is instead of picking a particular kind of car and then searching.

That said, being that you are in Florida so not in need of AWD, you can likely do better than a WRX. I know that back when I was an STi owner, and active on the Subaru forums, that any Suby with a turbo offered after 2007 had engine reliability issues. That was one of the reasons for not buying another STI. The other was I could not find one locally that was not modded to hell, returned to stock, and clearly beaten on by its owner. Ditto with used Evos. Which, if you are considering a WRX you should also consider.

When I looked at a 370z before I bought my 335, insurance for the 370 was about double the 335.
