Supercharged and "still under warranty"

For those of you that have decided to supercharge your cars, but are still under the 50k mile factory warranty, where do you go for regular service and maintenance? I would assume that you don't just stroll into the dealer and drop your car off for regular service (engine related or not).

Thanks in advance as I will soon have my SC on the way!

Why not go to the dealer? I take mine to the dealer. They know what's up and will be able to figure out that your car was SC'd, in the unlikely event of a catastrophic failure.

I figured that I would just take mine to the dealer, but I was curious if people had the dealer sevice their engine regularly.

The key is a strong relationship with your service adviser. Many of our clients head to our local dealer for any necessary warranty work with no issues. Our local dealer is very familiar with ESS kits and understands that the kit will not contribute to component failure, and so the guys there are perfectly willing to service supercharged cars.

Some dealers are great, and some are awful from a service and warranty standpoint. Ultimately the dealers that understand the fact that most M3 enthusiasts who modify their cars are very brand-loyal and will likely purchase more BMW cars in the future are the dealers that will achieve long term success.

I'll keep this in mind. So far I've had a great relationship with my dealer regardless of mods, but a SC might be a little over the top for them

No matter how strong of a relationship you have with your dealer..they are not going to overlook a blower if something goes wrong and needs fixing..thats just reality.

Nobody is suggesting the dealer would overlook a blower if a major engine failure took place. The point is to be honest with the dealer about the blower and you will get much more cooperation if... GOD FORBID something were to happen
I hate to wake the sleeping giant BUT there is a ton of great info in this thread re: the subject

Or create a friendly relationship with an independent, We can do just about anything the dealer can, including programming/updates.

Save the big stuff for the dealership.

For regular maintenance as long as it is in within BMW's service intervals shouldn't be a problem. As its has been said before, a good relationship with a service advisor goes a long way to ensure both sides get a fair deal.

on that last part! I'm not expecting them to overlook anything major. I have to accept the risks if I'm going to supercharge my car. Just looking for regular maintenance. Gotta pay to play!

Thanks! Unfortunately my regular gas stations only do 91, but I have a few that sell 100 octane for $7.999/gallon. Vt2-625 is good to go with 91

I love you guys and have purchased from you several times but this not the whole story. There are a great many parts in the car that the dealer cannot warranty without the regional rep coming in to have a look see and this includes pretty much every major component of the drivetrain and engine. This rep is very well trained and looking for anything that adds power. Should he find it your claim is denied. Not might be denied, denied. It does not matter what the dealer says, when he says no BMW will not authorize the parts or payment for labor. This guy does not sell cars and doesn't care how good a customer you are, he has absolutely no mercy. While there may be some people here who are such good customers that their dealer will be willing to come out of pocket 26k for a new engine and provide the labor for its installation at no cost I know for I am not one of them.

I'm no boy scout and I haven't owned a car in decades that wasn't surgically enhanced but I went in eyes open. The bottom line is most dealers will fix that power mirror, do the maintenance, etc. no issues whatsoever. Choose your parts carefully, pay attention to what associated parts can handle, you probably dont break anything. On the other hand you run into the thing you REALLY want that warranty for like that aforementioned new engine and its not going to be the dealer that decides anything, it will be that regional rep and he will say no. On the corvette forums the saying is anyone who mods their car should be capable and prepared to be their own warranty station. Its no less true here, you do these things you should be prepared to face consequences however unlikely.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just throw the question here since I have some of the most knowledgeable ppl on the forum in here already. What guages for monitoring vitals do you guys recommend with the vt2-625 kit?

The Stack gauges look like the best option. Any particular reasons you went with those three?

Edit: Your setup was recommended by SVC and IND, so I just pulled the trigger on them.
