Exclamation Engine error?

Was driving the car today, and out of nowhere i get multiple error signs in the dashboard
Brake in amber
DSC in amber
Engine error in amber
Redline down to 4500rpm
Drives like it's 100hp

I know if it's red it's serious
Amber is less so, but what could it be?
No engine mods at all
Aftermarket air filter, but that's about it
Will go to dealer tomorrow morning, but very worried about my baby

On an '08, I bet it's the idle valve, but could be other things. Surprised it lasted over 33K miles. Tomorrow your car might start fine, but next time might not go away. Better to take care of it now. Let us know what dealer says. Good luck.

Speaking of lasting till 33K miles
My 30K service was done about 2K miles ago
They change the oil/filter, and spark plugs
Since then my fuel consumption has gone down from 14.6 to 12.7
Even though my commute is the same, and I drive the same way.
And the car feels like it's down on power
Hard to explain, but not as sharp response as I used to have prior to service

And the idle is higher than it used to be since getting this message
It used to be around 750, now it's much closer to 1k
But it's steady, no variance.

And lately, when I first start the car, if I try to move as soon as I start, it stalls
I have to either rev it higher, or wait till the idle is stable

Man, this is the 3rd time I read of your exact problems after a spark plug change. Too much coincidence in my book.

As far as the idle valve, the typical symptom is erratic idle, especially when cold. Stalling and high idle are probably related to a bad idle valve too, but haven't heard of those, to be honest. What else did the stupid dealer do? Did they reflash you DME? Does engine feel smooth? That's why I prefer to do all services myself. I just got the oil change light, but will probably buy the kit and do it myself again. Good luck.

just got back from the dealer
they said it was the "throttle actuator valve"
does that make any sense?

It could be, but your engine would have run like crap to be the issue; Did it? And this would be the first time I hear of such a failure. There're TWO of those valves, one for each bank (pic below, but can't see them that far), so a bad valve would allow one bank to run at a different throttle opening than the other, so you can imagine how it'd feel.

Problem with this issue is the computer usually doesn't point directly to the idle valve, and most techs don't know what the hell to do if the computer doesn't tell them what is the problem. At the beginning of this issue, techs changed all kinds of parts, until somebody finally found the real issue. Hopefully your problem is solved, but if not, next time tell the tech to just change the idle valve. And point to one of the many threads here for 'evidence', if they don't believe you. Good luck, and keep us posted.

engine ran fine today on the way to the dealer
smooth and no issues
except i had the "service engine soon" light, but none of the other lights i had yesterday.
and when the SA read my key, it said "increased emissions"
i just don't like some idiot changing a whole bunch of parts that were ok
because it's more likely he will introduce more issues by taking apart more sections of the engine.

on a side note, our engine looks damn sexy when it's undressed

they called
they replaced the throttle actuator valve
but the car is being reprogrammed
which for some reason on my car is damn slow
also means i will lose all the cool programing shance had done for the autofold mirrors, bulb warning delete etc

just got the car back
they replaced the throttle actuator on bank 2 (which after visually checking is the one on the back left of the engine, not the one on the front right)
and the car drives fine
will see if the throttle response has improved, since i felt it wasn't as sharp since the last service.
they said they also checked the spark plugs but everything is ok
which means they didn't touch them but the computer said it was ok so they couldn't be bothered

the exact same thing happened to me today.

yesterday before there was the engine malfunction that happened today, I heard that the sound of the engine on rev matching (or just free revving) was different, I took it to the dealer but since the computer didn't tell them anything, they didn't know what to do.

today after the malfunction I took it to them again and they told me it was the throttle valve actuator

what does the actuator do and would it make a different engine sound if it goes bad?

i know in my case the car felt like i was towing a very heavy object
very slow
unresponsive
and the more gas i pressed, the less power i would get out of the engine
how can the computer not tell them anything if you had an engine code yesterday?
it should be in the history

Very common issue with the S65.

Very poorly made parts.
